Alright lads, been a while...what with work and being totally uninspired by our clubs actions over the past 3/4 months I've barely even lurked on here at all. Hope everyone is well and all the other regulars are still about?

Just wanted to gauge everyone's feelings of the teams who actually ARE spending in this window, Sunderland, Swansea and Norwich are all splashing the cash (others are being more coy) but who do you think has is currently out-newcastleing Newcastle?

I'm really impressed by Norwich's signings...young internationals with CL experience in Van Wolfswinkle and Fer, Nathan Redmond is really well thought of and Olson is experienced!

I see Swansea being a European contender this year (class manager, beginnings of strength in depth) and Sunderland will turn us over if we don't pull our finger out soon...I don't mind that we haven't signed anyone, I'm worried that all our targets are being snapped up 'cause our ****ing DF is on holiday after 2 destructive weeks in the job!

Doesn't really bother me personally. We only need a couple after flurry in January. More important we get the right positions and top quality. Impressed with Norwich in particular. Swansea have done well. Sunderland are an unknown, lot of changeover, depends if it clicks. They needed to so you can't fault their board for backing him. Di Canio unproven, some of the signings unproven, but you never know. I think we'll be very competitive provided we add strikers and I don't fear any teams outside the top 6 who are streets ahead obviously. The slots from 7th to 12th will be very keenly fought I suspect.

Hi JWAG- good to see you mate.

I'm not too bothered about other teams to be honest.
Some need to strengthen in lots of areas, some need to completely rebuild.
We fit into neither of these.
I'll judge at the end of the window but I have faith in Carr as he has proven himself to be the best scout there is in the PL right now.

The only teams I'm ever jealous of transfer wise are the likes of Chelsea or Citeh who can basically buy anyone they want of the highest quality.

Norwich have done really well and look as if they have a good season in front of them.

    Whos their Manager again?

I'm pissed off that other clubs are doing something and we are doing **** all. Everyone save us and maybe Fulham (now the takeover is complete they will def start) have strengthened since last year. We need a striker before the season starts, if we don't we really are a ****ing shambles of a club.

Well, seem you can piss take us now with the Italian thing, just as we have been with you with the French thing! Forza Italia!

We are unproven, but we are getting some solid buys in there. Some with CL experience, some with Europa league, others have won titles in their previous leagues, and some are full Internationals. I have faith we will come good. If we were buying from league 2, or Serie C1, then I would be worried.

The reason we are bringing in players is as was amply demonstrated at the end of last season is the squad was short of quality and quantity..and after Short saw that he knew we had to change. Some of the players will be great some average and some poor.

As for the mags Cisse is a good player..but when he is a lone striker it seems he was born offside. He needs somebody to feed off and if your management reckon that is judas bent they are bonkers. The USA
Ad we have just signed would I think play with Cisse, probably better than I expect Fletcher tbh. If you lose any of your French midfielders you will need to replace them. Is Colloquial staying and I still cannot figure how Jonas G even gets in your squad!

Pretty much this. You can't help but be jealous of the quality the big boys buy. You spend them sort of funds on players, you are getting pure class.

We bought some real quality in January and though that panic flurry didn't click and reap rewards in the second half, on the flipside some high quality players have had 6 months to settle, adapt to the game here while also having a character building experience. There is no getting away from it at the end of the day, players new to the league take 6-18 months to settle in the main.

We must get at least 1, preferably two strikers though. We are weak in attack. Elsewhere we compare well with any of the others outside the top 6-7. Up top I think we around the bottom 3. At least one of the forwards needs to be home based I think. Someone who can adapt quickly. I still don't like Bent as a player, and would prefer to take a risk on Rhodes or Hooper.

JWAG <ok> good go see you posting.

I am getting very nervous by our lack of activity. Or more the point, the fact that every striker we've been linked with in the last 8 months seems to have already been sold lose here, with the exception of Best.

I don't think we need many signings, but we do need 2 or 3 quality players - and to hold on to the current first team players. If any of them do go then we'll need to replace them as well.

A number of teams have completed positive deals so far and we are lagging behind, but we did add quite a lot in January. When we have a fully fit squad with a couple of new first teamers there, I think we'll shape up well.
