Just wondering on what people's opinions were on the transfer window. Is it better to go out and buy players early, or would you rather see us bide our team. For example if Chelsea buy a new Striker this Summer, they may be less reluctant to let Sturridge leave. Although i can see us waiting too long and paying an inflated fee for an overrated player!

Be active throughout, targets should be identified well in advance, which I'd imagine Mr Carr will have done. Act quickly for those you have competition with and can get the deal you want for, play hardball and drag things out where there's little competition or you're in a far better negotiating position.

I think its best to get the targets you already have eyes on as soon as possible. but it would be nice if we kept some money aside for maybe a deadline bargin or 2... look at van der vaart... £8mill... although i suspect dodgy dealings in that as he was set to go to bayern a few days earlier for 18mill

I couldn't care less of when we buy them, I'd rather us get the right player for the right price

On one hand moving early might mean you sign a player before other clubs become interested, but on the other, signing players at the start of the window means you have to pay their wages all summer.

Buy early then they have a full pre season to settle in, adapt to our game, learn our tactical plans and get to know the lads. Also likely to be better for their fitness. Players are normally cheaper earlier on (not stupid panic buys), you actually bid for players you want and need and you have more negotiating time. Also the earlier Pards knows his full squad for the season, the better.

Activity throughout! Have an idea of several targets per position that needs strengthened.

Avoid the last day throng at all costs

Early. Gives new signings chance to settle and the prices go up later on because selling clubs have less time to replace their players.

Get it done early, then the players get the chance to bond and get to know each others game.

As NUFC are on pre-season in the States it imperative that the major signings are in place before the tour begins so they bed in with the existing squad.

Most senior staff will be abroad so recruitment must be done beforehand.

There will be squad fillers after that period but the clubs intention has to be to get signings done before pre-season.
