    Spanish side Valencia have re-invested some of the fee they received last week from Chelsea for Juan Mata to capture their coveted central defender - and happily for Newcastle it's not Fabricio Coloccini.

    Interest in the Magpies captain has been reported on various occasions in the Spanish media since the last transfer window, but Tuesday afternoon saw them finally confirm the acquisition of Victor Ruiz Torre.

    The 22 year-old Spanish-born centre half has arrived from Napoli in a deal estimated at €10m and signs a five year contract at the Mestalla.

    I'm -dareisayit- quietly confident going into tomorrow. I think if we get rid of anybody it won't be anybody we give too much of a **** about. Everybody seems settled (unlike Nolan/Barton/Enrique) and nobody is notably on the radar of other teams/is a **** (unlike Carroll). We've made a quality signing today - potentially our best in years, which to me is the strongest piece of evidence of a plan for the club that should see us both climb the table and stay on good financial foundations. It would completely go against that plan to sell anybody right now - that said I'm still going to be biting the nails clean off my fingers though.

    Anyway I'm gonna put my bet on:

    15:27 - (cwarr) Dwight Yorke signing imminent.
