Of course new owners won’t guarantee success or stability so would have to see what their plans and ideas are .
Sorry, I have only just noticed that Yorkshirehornet posted the same link a little earlier in the Watford Short News Items. I posted the article because it addresses some of the issues which JT Bodo raised.
I think they basically do what now what has been happening throughout their time here but during the Premier league seasons no one was that bothered. Now it's all come to ahead because we looked like a play-off team and don't so much now. Change a few managers - I mean we had 4 in a promotion season! High turn over of players = Yes nice to get some very good players from Udinese and others like Capoue/GD and Gomes but we also had a load of trash. Not much communication (well Nani did offer his views and it just got rubbished and ridiculed) but as said above if they did a lot people would complain it's all PR and trying to save face. No doubt the rumours of Cleverley being sacked and replaced haven't helped - at no time have the club or media here claimed it was going to help of course but mud sticks and as Tom is actually popular unlike previous managers it went down badly. Whose to say the Spanish press were just creating a story to gets headlines and attention? Has anyone asked the guy who was supposedly set to come in..
I dont know if this has been mentioned https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ent-training-with-championship-rivals-4981621 Former Sunderland striker Connor Wickham is currently training with Watford.
It's in the Short News thread. He played for the U21's as a trialist against Colchester on Friday - scored a hat trick. General consensus is that there's no intention to sign him though.
Was a very good prospect but been injured a lot hence having no club at 31. Not sure I’d rely on him to keep fit.
Yes - more recently with Charlton, Cardiff, Forest Green Rovers, MK Dons, and Preston. Didn't last long at any of them - probably needs to re-evaluate his future. Playing may not be an option - maybe coaching?
Palace looking to sign Kayembe - I wonder how much they'd want to take him off our hands? https://sportwitness.co.uk/crystal-...ayer-could-embrace-new-challenge-next-season/
Journalist Alan Nixon reporting on his Patreon page that Watford are trying to sign 19 year old Neyser Villareal from Millonarios in Colombia. It is claimed that they will have to pay a transfer fee of £5 million and that they may face competition from Brazilian giants, Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras, for his signature. Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Newcastle Utd., are also rumoured to be showing an interest in the player. Recently Neyser Villareal scored a hat-trick against Paraguay in the South American Under-20 Championship. His contract with Millonarios expires in December 2025 so they are keen to obtain a transfer fee while they still can. I shall be surprised if he does sign for Watford if there is genuine interest from any of the other named clubs. Can Watford even afford to pay £5 million?
Brazilian media outlets are reporting that Millonarios have accepted a $4 million bid from Vasco da Gama for Néiser Villarreal (the Colombian 19 year old player). It will be the largest transfer fee received by Millonarios in their history. I wonder whether Watford were ever seriously involved in any negotiations because their policy is to try to find promising South American talent much earlier before the players become well known. Vasco da Gama, Palmeiras, Liverpool, Newcastle Utd., Girona and Real Betis were all reported to be showing an interest in signing Néiser Villarreal. He looks a very exciting striker judging by his youtube highlights and he was the leading scorer (with 8 goals and 4 assists) in the South American U-20 Championship which finished this month.
Néiser Villarreal appears to have turned down Vasco da Gama (a football club in Rio named after the Portuguese explorer). Millonarios are supposedly still in negotiations with Vasco and Watford, but a number of major European clubs plus Palmeiras (a top club in São Paulo) have also been linked. Néiser Villarreal has not returned to training with Millonarios (although expected there on Monday) after the South American U-20 Championship ended in February and he has not returned telephone calls from the club. It is suspected that his agent is advising him to wait so that he can sign for Porto at a lower price because his contract with Millonarios actually expires in November. I doubt that Watford are negotiating because Gino Pozzo does not get involved in bidding wars and I would also question the players's character in view of his behaviour. It is a pity because he looks a very exciting prospect based on his youtube highlights, although he has made only a small number of substitute appearances for the first team of Millonarios. He was the leading scorer (with 8 goals and 4 assists) in the recent South American U-20 Championship.
Interesting possibility - Hearts attacking left back James Penrice. A free transfer from Livingston in July, but not a bad player. Preston and Southampton linked with potential transfer swoop for Hearts star
It's never too early for a transfer rumour... https://the72.co.uk/2025/04/02/watford-linked-with-holstein-kiel-niklas-niehoff-move/
