https://www.footballfancast.com/wat...-munoz-watford-transfer-news-the-championship Interesting but not the striker we need??
Like the one about an 18 year old - can't remember his name - who has just been released by Portsmouth. A silly rumour...
Are there plans for the Premier League to increase the size of Premier League squads? I can not see any other reason that Watford are planning to sign as many as 100 players (if the media reports are to be believed). Joking aside, Cristiano Giaretta has suggested that there will not be a large number of signings. He has said that the club will need to strengthen in some identified positions in order to be competitive in the Premier League and that they will sign only players who represent an improvement on the existing squad. I suspect that Watford have already done much of their transfer business, but that there will be no announcements before 1st July. Who might be signed by Watford? A poster on another Watford forum, who has admitted knowing someone inside in the club, seems convinced that Josh Doig (a highly rated left-footed central defender, who plays for Hibernian) will be joining the club in the summer. Doig will be 19 years old in two days time, but only time will reveal the truth about this rumour. Ashley Young has openly stated his desire to return to the club where he started his career (even if they had stayed in the Championship). He also wants to be closer to his family. Reports suggest that negotiations are taking place over his salary, but that Inter Milan may still offer him a new contract (with a much larger salary than Watford can afford). Young wants to finish his career at Watford and he is a left-sided defender/winger, who offers a great deal of experience of playing at a high level. The contract, which has been offered by Watford, is reported to be for one year (with the option of an additional year). I think that this will be his last realistic opportunity to return to Watford because he will be 36 years old in July so that money will not be his primary motive. Adam Leventhal has reported in the Athletic that there is a real possibility that Rodrigo de Paul (an attacking midfielder) may join Watford from Udinese. Apparently it was planned that he should join Watford at the beginning of this season, but Watford's relegation scuppered that plan. Any move will depend on whether there is a large offer from another club for de Paul, which is less likely in the present financial climate, and whether de Paul wants to join Watford. The Pozzos will probably want to put de Paul in the shop window of the Premier League (where he can attract a larger fee) and he has also said that he wants a new challenge. He would be a wonderful signing, but I shall only believe in this possibility if and when it happens. The Sun newspaper and the South American media have reported Watford's supposed interest in Rafael Santos Borré, a Colombian striker who plays for River Plate but who will be out-of-contract at the end of June. One of the South American websites (written in Spanish) did mention that Muñoz has actually asked for two new strikers. Borré does sound like a typical Pozzo signing, but I suspect that these reports emanate from his agent who is trying to promote the player. Borré has also been linked with clubs such as Porto and Lazio, but the proposals appear to have been coming from his agent. The reported salary offer by Watford is far more than they could afford to pay and Ryan Gray (Watford Observer reporter) has written that sources at the club have denied interest in signing Borré. There are many other rumours in the media which link Watford to players. Some are more plausible than others, but it is impossible to know the truth. Does anyone else have any knowledge or ideas (as opposed to unsubstantiated transfer rumours) about what may happen?
We may have to hurry if we want to sign Josh Doig - he's supposed to be going to Arsenal. The only thing in our favour is that they are looking at him as a back up for Kieran Tierney.
The poster on the other Watford forum is suggesting that the deal for Doig has already been done, but it sounds unlikely if Arsenal are interested.
A transfer value of £1.2 million has been mentioned - he's also had interest from Chelsea, Leicester and Man City. That all makes me think we won't be seeing him in a Watford shirt.
If he wants to play, or at least have more than a half chance of playing, then he comes here. If he wants to just pick up a fat pay check then he goes to the likes of chavs or citeh.
Apparently we've had a £2million bid rejected for Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson. From what I've seen of him, he doesn't meet Giaretta's 'must be better than what we currently have' rule anyway. The article mentions that we're losing Kane Critchlow - to be honest, I'd be more upset about that. https://www.footballfancast.com/wat...sco-munoz-cristiano-giaretta-the-championship
We are rumoured to be interested in former teammate of Zinck, Milan left winger Jens Petter Hauge. The Milan fan comments in the article suggest they would be less than happy to see him go. https://sempremilan.com/cm-milan-wi...ight-price-everton-wolves-and-watford-alerted
Given his lineage, the wise money is on him being signed by Rangers - both his father and his uncle played for them, his uncle being a bit of a club legend there.

Has this one been mentioned? Watford have opened talks with Hibernian regarding a move for Josh Doig, the Watford Observer understands. A price is yet to be agreed for the 18-year-old but discussions have centred around a deal in the region of £4million.
@Luther mentioned it on Sunday. The last I heard about him was that Arsenal were sniffing around too.
