Sounds like Pedro is coming in January - no pressure on the young lad! https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-join-watford-next-year-work-permit-approved/ Comments from Flores suggest he won't be playing in the 1st team any time soon - naturally needs time to settle etc but might be too late by the time he is ready.
Pedro on the way : https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...eart/?action=success#comments-feedback-anchor
I wonder if the club will try to push the boat out in order to try and get players in to help us stay up? Or is that too much of a risk maybe given you could end up with more players earning a good high wage in the Championship.
It’s the age-old question, isn’t it, Mark? I think nothing would condemn us quicker than deadwood Premiership ‘journeymen’ clogging up our squad. But Gino has bought very well most of the time and refreshed our squad to the excellent state it is today. I would like to see us splash cash in targeted areas, particularly the front line.
To get top quality players to come to a club our size is always going to be difficult as the wages will not be as high as at larger ones. We will be looking at those with potential from countries where players rewards are lower than at Watford. If someone like Deulofeu was consistently good, then he probably wouldn't be at Watford. It will also be difficult to attract players who wonder if they will be in the Championship next season.
I reckon we'll get a couple of loans this window, a striker and a defender, either a left back or CB. What's happened to Penaranda? He should be acclimatised by now...
On loan in Belgium. Guess Pedro might get some game time when ready but surely too young to put great pressure on.
I guess it depends on his character. I do think Pearson and Shakespeare would be very influential with impressionable young lads. Your ‘old’ hands might be more cynical. Not Deeney though, he’s so professional - how has he played so much recently coming back from that injury? Amazing.
I was listening to Tim Vickery on the BBC the other week and he was saying that Pedro was only 18 and needed to fill out physically otherwise he would just bounce of PL centre backs. It would be unrealistic and grossly unfair to expect him to take on the responsibility of scoring enough goals to keep us up. In reality he is one for the future not really the present.
Quite true - he looked tall (mind you to me most people are at 5ft 3!) but slight. We've been there before with young strikers and pressure/hope. I mean we are still waiting for the real Isaac Success!
Watford hope to accelerate their progress up the table under Nigel Pearson by bringing Milan left-back Ricardo Rodriguez to Vicarage Road in the coming weeks.
I still think Masina might do well, he is slowly upping his performances after a dificult start. Still, we will need a replacement for Holebas as it is next season. If RR comes that is a coup!!
Apparently we didn't let Swansea play Willmott in the cup tie today .. Are we thinking of getting him back ?
