L’Équipe report that Premier League side Watford have made a breakthrough in their efforts to sign Senegalese international winger Ismaila Sarr. The 21-year-old is set to join the Hornets for €30m plus €5m in bonuses. The Pozzo family are understood to have beaten Rennes President Létang in negotiations, with the latter having held out for €40m, before dropping to €37m, before accepting the deal on offer. (I posted this last night) So the French newspaper dedicated to sports was just about spot on with everything they reported. There really is a very poor coverage from the English press these days with the journalists just picking up from the internet what they can, rather than having a relationship with the clubs.
From reports I have read the signings of Sarr and Welbeck have been in the making for several months. All of the dashing around from some clubs keeps the fans happy, but there have been some disasters with desperate last minute purchases. The Pozzos have one of the most highly regarded scouting systems anywhere, and if it gets out that they trying to sign someone, others will know they have done their homework, so keeping things quiet is very understandable.
I don't want to start another EU spat but your comment could not be further from the truth about the way I feel about it and I take exception to it. I will not say any more and I do not wish to fall out with any of you nice people.
I am sure that if I can hold my tongue everyone else should be able to manage it. I haven't had to delete a post for some time and it has been very stress free.
Watford hope to beat Hull to the signing of Malmo's 19-year-old Swedish striker Kevin Harletun, who will be available for a compensation fee of around £140,000 when his contract expires in November.
Sounds like Joao Pedro has been having a tough time from his own fans - being booed after bring caught drinking at a festival couple of games before a matchday.
Sign players in Jan to help the survival fight. Who'd be willing to come? No wage structure breakers, that is for sure or what'd happen If we do/did go down... No big name signings are coming that is for sure. Don't worry though the Pozzo scouting network are overdue to get us some gems... Tough times.
