That was strong for my sensibilities, duggie, and I winced “Blood and sand!” Then I laughed at how inappropriate that was!
Well some disappointment about not getting a right full back in leaving us with Gaspar and an out of position Kamara for now but obviously excellent news to keep Sarr and Pedro whilst if they get fit and perform the loan signings look good.
Watford forward Joao Pedro has said he is "fully committed to the club" after the Hornets turned down a bid from Everton for the 20-year-old Brazilian. (Watford Observer) Watford also stood firm in keeping Senegal winger Ismaila Sarr, 24, despite receiving a £25m bid from Aston Villa and enquiries from Crystal Palace. Phew........... until January.................................. We have kept our two class players....could really make the difference
Funny how various branches of the media report things differently - watching SSN last night, their take on it was that Everton had lost interest in signing him. Either way, I suspect everyone is like me - extremely happy that we still have him.
Don't know how I missed this earlier, but I just read that Dapo Mebude completed a permanent transfer to Oostende. Free transfer but with a sell on clause.
It appears to be even funnier how certain managers view things differently. This is Eddie Howe's take yesterday on the result of his Joao Pedro bids - "...when dropping a hint to players such as Watford star Pedro, Howe went on: "I think the challenge for those players (who missed out on moves) is to refocus. The actual gap between the windows is very short. January will be here before we know it. So they just have to focus on that period now and double down on your work." Strangely, he seems to assume that Pedro 'missed out' on a move to Newcastle rather than realise that he actually didn't want to go.
I hope, expect that the agreement between Watford and Pedro and Sarr is that they commit for this season and if we do not go up and if the right bids are made we will not stand in their way
Trabzonspor also in for WTE now: https://soccernet.ng/2022/09/trabzonspor-rival-fenerbahce-for-super-eagles-star.html
Why is it always described as a "race" to sign someone? If clubs really were racing, one of them would surely have won by now...
Apparently we're interested in signing Blackpool's Jerry Yates - with competition from Brentford, Bournemouth, West Brom and Glasgow Rangers. He did look a little handy against us the other week, but with that competition I doubt we'll see him in a Watford shirt...
