Yep, if at the end of your career and it is something you always wanted the chance to do then take it with both hands.

Unless you get offered £30m to play for Shanghai shafters...

Truth is, footballers are as far removed from our reality as can be humanly possible. Only we, the fans, hope for fairytale endings. They don't give a flying Fvck.....

Nor will I when I win the lottery.....

Exactly, I have never bought this "dream come true" bullshit for any player. Ronaldo stated in his first week at OT that he dreamed of playing for Madrid but I am fairly certain that if Barca had offered him a better signing on fee and higher wages (plus putting in a higher bid) he would have quite happily gone there as his dream move <laugh>

You are bang on with Fergie, he broke quite a few transfer records over the years but only ever for a single player that he wanted/needed, not to buy half a team in one window. TBH I think Klopp is heading the same way when he gets the chance, get the one you want not 5 you can make do with.

Some players are more open and honest though. For example, Luis Suarex did he dreamed of playing one of the Spanish giants, he didn't limit it to one or tee other [HASHTAG]#clever[/HASHTAG] ;)

I kinda get what you mean. Answer me a question though. If Man UTD wanted to sign you but they weren't challenging for the league but Man City or Real came in for you, who would you sign for?

This is essentially a "would you rather be Alan Shearer or Michael Owen" type question...

(Ignoring Blackburn obviously)

It was Lamberts dream come true to play for Liverpool <whistle>
And Joe Cole's.
After that it was his dream come true to play for Wham again, then it was his dream come true to play for Villa.
Then it was his dream come true to play for someone else, and then some outfit in the States.
He was so lucky, that lad.

Yeah exactly. Although I was more pointing out that not ALL footballers couldn't give a ****. Although timing is important.

Question for you @Diego

Who would you rather have Dele Alli or Lingard?
Whoa tough one, I would lean toward Lingard at the moment because he is "one of our own" <laugh>

Seriously, Lingard because he is the one player who knits our attack and midfield together (regardless of what we have spent on others), he is the very first line of defence, has almost as much energy as "the machine" (Valencia), is Red through and through and very under rated.
I have been calling for him to get more game time for 3 years (posts on here to support this).

This is what we’ve not done for the last 15 years and it’s always cost us. Every fan has pretty much said we should be buying 1/2 big players to make a difference to the first team rather than 6/7 that fills out the squad.

Only recently have we had the cash to really be able to do that though. Unfortunately when we had the best team under rafa when we needed to just strengthen a couple of areas with WC players we were selling to buy and constantly filling the squad.

Alli has had a bit of stinker this year. While Lingard has been one of UTD's best player this season (brother is a utd fan, and thinks this, I tend to avoid **** football). I do wonder if Alli will ever produce to the same level he has before.

I'd prefer us to buy a whole player :bandit:
