Can I turn this round please.

It would make absolutely no sense to BUY sturridge.

    End of.

Anyone who spelled out money on him in his current state would want shooting.

If high paid physicians in England and the US (people who know a bit about the body and how it works) can't fix him, what makes you hope a football manager and his coaches can?

Correct. IN his current state nobody will buy him. If he gets out of his current state then he's worth you holding on to.

I've already pointed out that I said he was ****ed 18 months ago. But it's worth while just to see, even if it's a very slim chance. Six months more wages, given what we've already thrown away on him, is neither here nor there in the monopoly money absurdity of modern football.
And, as has been pointed out by several people, including me- who's going to give more than a bag of crisps for him in his current state?

Because it seems it's much more than just getting him 'fixed'. I truly believe Sturridge would be ok to play right now- but all that has resulted in for the last 18 months is more injuries and time out.

They want him fixed, fit and strong to see if we can get the ****er to string a few games together!

I'm talking 2 versions of fixed

    A) as in, can play a game

    B) actually recovered, fit and his body is up to speed

Klopp has been talking about this preseason thing for ages now and that's what's going on at the moment.

Furthermore. The U.S. doctors may have been able to "fix" his problem, but not able to prevent a recurrence, or foresee a different issue cropping up.
It just might have been a problem with the way his fitness was managed, so it's worth a punt to see if the new regime fares any better.

Yep, and watch the media melt at Klopp's feet if he brings him back in 2 weeks and he sees the season out <laugh>

I'll be satisfied if he can just get him to play the last couple of months without incident, and continue to develop him in the next pre-season.

Surely his previous managers, coaches, physio's etc have tried this, the lad has been around a bit (under several competent regimes) and his injury problems have just got worse. Players usually get stronger with age as their body matures, he seems to be getting more susceptible to injury.

I can only really speak of his time with us as he wasn't as important to City & Chelsea due to squad depth & age/ability back then but we've 100% rushed him back in the past and that is not happening now.

As stated before, I firmly believe he could play right now but we're building him up properly for a change in the hope we can get some real game time out of him, not 2 appearances and another several months out.

Diego makes a valid point - we have highly paid professionals who have tried to fix but failed.

Sturridge is an interesting case. His injury problems have been misdiagnosed over the past 2 years - he finally had corrective surgery last year but we should also remember that this lad also hasn't had a preseason in a while - he's not had the chance to build his fitness over 1 month to allow him to play high intensity football consistently. He's always had injuries and then rushed back 1-2 weeks later.

Klopp is doing the right thing - allowing DS to train for a sustained period of time so his body is conditioned again to play consistently.

As Saint says, let's give Sturridge time to prove his fitness now that we have a manager who is patient and won't rush him back, and now that the real injury has been corrected. Worth noting that Klopp has as degree in sports sciences (I think).
