This past week I have been a little dismayed by some of the transfer talk in the press linking us with various players. I know too well that a lot of this is just mindless speculation that has no basis in fact and lazy journo's putting 2 and 2 together. The list of "linked with" players grow by the day and to be honest I would be aghast if we actually signed some of them. The list so far in detail reads as follows: Chris Kirkland - Ex Wigan worked with PJ decent keeper but injury prone and has a clanger in him. On balance good solid signing and would improve the squad. Michael Brown - Portsmouth midfielder and at 34 would only be given a year at most. Leave well alone in my opinion. Nathan Ellington - Reports have suggested that he has had talks at Portman Road. If we get him it will be a big step backwards. He only scored goals 5 years ago! Is he any better than Scotland? James Coppinger - Apparantly we have gone back to Donny with an improved offer for Coppinger. If this is true then I would love to have him at Portman Road. He would supply the ammo for Chops. Great signing if this comes off. Aaron Cresswell - Don't know too much about this left back but all reports say that he is a great talent and a fee under £500k would be a great bit of business. Young hungry player who wants to progress. On balance another great signing and just what we need. SSL - This saga over wether we will clinch his signing from Preston will rumble on and on. Surely there are better CB's out there? Jason Pearce - Young CB from Bournemouth. Great potential and shades of Matty Holland perhaps. £800k great signing. The also rans: Gio Dos Santos (as part of deal for Connor), Jason Koumas, Freddy Adu, Faroun, Kieron Westwood, David Nugent the list is endless. We need a RB, LB 2x CB, Attacking Midfielder, Holding Midfielder, Striker to partner Chops and a GK I just hope that PJ is working on securing his identified targets and that we get a full squad of players together ready for pre season training.
Don't agree that we need 2 CB's, already have Delaney and Ingimarsson, think we should sign Pearce from Bournemouth and settle for those 3 as CB's!! Ellington -No Kirkland-No Other names mentioned would improve the squad imo!! As for GK - Go all out for Loach As for striker - If CW stays then its not a priority but if he goes then try for Maynard or Billy Sharp (improved offer)
Your club are giving us a laugh with the latest offer for Coppinger, it's hardly better than the first one. It won't encourage him to want to come to your club insulting him like that. It's no good bidding for Sharp either he's already said he wouldn't want to go to Ipswich.
Your Chairman came out with a statement that sounded like desperation last week! His plan to trigger a bidding war after our initial bid was rejected has backfired big time. He was expecting us to come back with a much improved offer for Sharp. PJ just stuck 2 fingers up and said sod it we'll go and sign Chopra instead! Your club is in a financial mess as you are losing money hand over fist. I'm loving the fact that we are not going to be mugged off by anyone. The offer we made for Coppinger and Sharp was a fair offer it got rejected and we have moved on. Shame your chairman keeps banging on about it!
I don't know where you get the idea we are in a financial mess from. The club are losing £1.5 million per year that the directors have agreed to put in themselves. To them it is a drop in the ocean, together they are worth about £400 million. You are talking out of your rear end if you think John Ryan wants you to come back with an offer for either player, he has stated he doesn't want to sell them because they are part of next years team that is being built. The offer you made was fair to who? Maybe fair for yourselves because Donny doesn't want to sell and the players are happy where they are, Billy Sharp turned down more money from Leeds and Burnley to play at Donny and Coppinger has come up through the leagues with us. Why would they want to go to Ipswich? Now I can't think of an answer to that one. You go through players and managers like women change their knickers. Not a very good advert for you is it.
Spike Yeah i can understand why the mentioned players would want to stay at Donny, after all, what was the aggregate over the two meetings between us this season? Oh hang on a minute.........
Mate I'm not picking a fight with you I couldn't give a toss about Doncaster! The point I'm making is that we are not going to be mugged off by anyone and I'm glad that we decided to walk away after our initial offer was rejected. What beats me is why your chairman chooses to keep banging on about it to the media! In terms of the number of managers you are talking out of your rear end mate! We've had 9 managers in 40 years. The women you know obviously don't change their knickers that often!
Spike Comment from SOD “Every player has their price but the bid was way short of Billy’s valuation. “Copps is a slightly different case because of his age. This kinda leaves the door open and suggests that a slightly higher bid would be accepted, which we have allegedly made. Whats the problem mate?
I have underestimated our directors wealth you can roughly double the figure that I gave you. http://terrybramall.crazybillionaire.org/terrybramall.php That article tells you about 2 of the directors so you'll have to add more on the figures in the article.
Maybe our chairman keeps on about it because the fools on the Ipswich board think they can get players on the cheap so he wants to show Donny don't sell on the cheap. Spanish you got the points this season but you only got 2 points from the 4 games previous to that.
Ha! Brilliant. It's never nice when players you like get bids put in for them but that's football. I think £2 Mil was a fair offer but if Donny didn't want to sell so we went elsewhere. As for Coppinger he is 30 so he isn't really gonna get any better, if anything he's gonna start to dip.
All that money and you are still ****e I can think of another Championship team that fits that bill, and they play in blue and white! ----------------- I don't know! Birmingham aren't that bad!
