So has anyone got any incalings or rumors about who we might be looking to sign in the transfer window? I think we could do with some more defensive cover as I dont think De Laat has impressed, ayala has sick noted and Rusty has been made to play out of position for much of the season and we have injury worries at the back. We must have a reasonable war chest cause I dont think PL broke the bank in the last window, so who would you like to see at CR?? We must be able to attract the cut of the championship, being in the position we find ourselves!!
Yes, Gunter is the only one I have seen - but I wouldn't put RB at the top of my list. I'd like to see another option at holding midfield to complement Fox and Johnson and another striker like Jordan Rhodes and possibly a creative attacking midfielder, but other than those I think City are already in good shape.
Apparently "Big Sam" enquired about Rhodes, and he's not for sale at any price, obviously they wouldn't/can't afford to turn down a big money offer though. Can't imagine PL or DM stumping up massive cash for anyone, so think he's a no-go.
To be honest i wouldnt be too gutted if we didnt sign anyone. i think we have a good squad of players that are getting better all the time. With Vaughan, Ward, Aayla and Korey Smith all due to come back from injury I think we have the squad to stay up. The defence yes does look dodgey at times but they are looking better every game imo. We are scoring goals. Vaughan is and will be a great player for us. Morrisson and Holt are doing a great job!
please don't take offence sam but this nonsense that we don't need to sign anyone really grates with me. of course we need to make additions! additions to the team and squad will freshen things up, give further impetus to current players to up their games, add quality to areas we maybe lack a bit in and give a lift to the fans. it would be a massive, massive mistake not to enter the market, even if its only for one or two players. i too am delighted with how everyone has coped but i say it all the time – there is always room for improvement – and thankfully, lambert knows this and will act.
I agree also we need to keep looking forward any stalling and admiring our progress and it will all be undone by the quality of the league, I think it will be a good chance to bring in a striker and winger I hope. Ideally I would want a quality centre back but that may be out of our price range.
i understand we are being linked with a move for matt phillips from blackpool. a winger who had a very successful spell in league one with sheffield united earlier this season, he has scored goals for fun and has the sort of age and background our leader would look for. would be a decent move in my opinion.
One choice for me. Mr Paul Lambert. Double his salary. Now. Extend his contract to 2017. The rest can go on a defender that belongs to us and hasn't decided that his time to impress Fergie is long gone and that he isn't cut out for us either. Any left on another defensive midfielder to protect Hoolahan a bit.
we cannot extend lambert's contract - he only ever wants a one-year rolling contract. that doesn't mean he isn't committed to us, as some may jump to that conclusion, it merely means he will continuously have one year remaining on his contract - nothing more, nothing less. his salary can and indeed should, if it hasn't already, be whacked up though! its security for him and for us. if we sack him he gets a years pay off, if he leaves we get compensation
agreed with this - the second half of the season is harder, we need fresh blood for sure. I hope the sign no defenders noise is a smokescreen!
Why this dislike of De Laet? Looking back he made no more mistakes in central defence than anybody else and against Spurs he was looking good at right back until he got injured. I quite like the lad - at least he has got a bit of pace.
agree 1950. in fact, i think de laet was one of our best performers early in the season, even with the costly mistakes
I would be quite happy if we tried to sign De Laet and Naughton permanently in January and I will leave the rest to PL. I am sure he will remember that we have one or two good players about to come back from injury especially Vaughan and Ayala
I had seen Rhodes coming to us for 2.5 million with Chris Martin going the other way. Lots of stuff about Maynard as well. Also signing Naughton. My postie (Sheff Utd. fan) said they sold him to Spurs with another player (?)for about £10 million and he thought there was no chance of us getting Naughton. For me , we have been scoring but another option such as Rhodes would be useful (although Vaughan may be back soon). I would like another GK and a defender as the non clean sheets are becoming an issue.
That would be Kyle walker surgery! I don't think that we will sign any of the strikers that are being talked about atm ie maynard,Rhodes and Sharp .
