Once again, this time on Sky, I heard a commentator saying that we had spent heavily and brought in 11 players, during the transfer period.
Does nobody feel irritated that there is no one replying that although we appear to have spent a lot, it is only about HALF of what came in from player sales. We are probably about £15 million up on transfer dealings.
We have spent none of the TV money, none of the gate money and none of the sponsoring and merchandising money.
It's all very well saying we've spent heavily but we've been replacing quality players with average players. I'm not saying they are poor players, a few are ok, some may turn out to be ok in the future, but compare last years strikers with this years strikers and you'll see what I mean.
No wonder SB likes the 4-6-0 formation.
Probably our best player is one who couldn't get into the team that beat us yesterday.
One of SB's best points is that he is good at the transfer market, getting good prices for sales and getting players in quite cheaply.
I wonder if this is all in Ellis Short's mind? He's getting money coming in and not having to put money into a transfer pot.
Of course, I know he's put money in earlier but it's this current period I'm on about now.
I just hope we're not putting together a squad for promotion from the Championship next year.
Harrods? .......... Jacky Whites more likely!
