    1. The club has made an 8m (euro) bid for Barcelona's winger Jeffren. A meeting is set up for Monday in Spain

    2. Keeper Somogyi has joined on trial

    3. Renewed interest in Blackpool's J P Campbell (around £1.5m)

    4. Lost out on Swansea's Spaniard Angel Rengal (he opted to stay put now that they are in Premier)

    5. Not quick enough for Tranmere's Creswell (snapped up by Ipswich)

    6. Not interested in B'Ham's Ridgwell

Now this is pure rumour. Arsenal are back for Schwartzer; in which case we'd go for Given.

Jeffren would be a very interesting option, and I would probably take given instead of schwarzer if there is any truth in that

    Craig Bellamy

Rather surprisingly Bellamy is this am (Wednesday 6th July) is at Craven Cottage having talks. Rated at £4m (plus ??? wages, of course).

Not known if outright purchase or loan deal.

I would take Stockdale to start and sign Somogyi

I agree with WDWW. And can I save us all time by condensing the Bellamy argument before it even starts:

    - He's a quality player
    - But he's a thug
    - But he'll score goals, and Hughes gets the best out of him
    - But Hughes has gone, thicky,
    - Sorry, I forgot it wasn't 2010
    - We can't afford his wages anyway
    - And he can start a fight in an empty room
    - But he's class, and what about that charity he set up out in Africa?
    - What about it? That doesn't change the fact that he's a thug
    - But he'd be our thug
    - He's also too old and would expect too much in wages
    - But... (repeat variations on the above for at least three pages of posts)

There! Saved us all the bother. Now we can talk about coaches with comically rude names again.

    <laugh> spot on Captain.

But seriously, does anyone here actually want Bellamy? I certainly don't.

And me. I should have come clean in the earlier post - he has completely the wong attitude - not Fulhamish.

    Yes, agree entirely.

...........but can you imagine him playing off BZ and picking up all those through balls. <sigh> pity he's such a git.

Back to Jeffner. As you probably know Villa have turned down L'pool's £15m offer for Downing, saying they want £19m. M Lawrence says on 5Live they're desparate for a left wide option so expects them to up the ante. Well it is ML, but let's hope he's correct and they lose interest in Jeffner. Still at half the price, albeit untried in the prem, who knows.

A relatively pointless post really, but aren't posts all about getting it off your chest? Keeps my pot of anticipation bubbling anyway.

PS more irrelevance - L'pool have signed Adans for an undiclosed fee. So we can look forward to him falling over again next year after all.

We can do better than Bellamy, like somebody who isn't overpriced, over the hill and over paid.
