It looks like we could be in for one of the more eventful transfer deadline days in our recent history tomorrow. By my reckoning, we've been linked with moves for the following players:

Grygera - Juventus, looks like a done deal.
Cameron Jerome - possible part-ex with Baird
Jerome Thomas - why sign one player called Jerome when you can sign two?
Derek Boateng (Dnipro) - don't get this one, why do we need another CM?
    Zaha (Palace)
Chadli (Twente - apparently he's picked up an injury and is out until October)

Players who could be on their way:

AJ - Leicester. For all my attempts to argue for keeping him, I'd probably take £4m if that's the offer.
Dempsey - now being linked with PSG, Villa & Sevilla. None would offer the Champions League football he's after this season, but I wonder if the move for Thomas is connected to the possibility that Clint might leave.
Baird - apparently offered to Birmingham, Roy also supposed to be interested at WBA. A possible part-ex for Thomas?

    Who have I missed?

Nothing there to excite me really. Neither of the Jeromes are great, Grygera is old, Zaha is a gamble and Boateng has just signed for Dnipro this summer for around £5million so i can't see that happening. Also with the players leaving, we can't let AJ go without having 2 strikers coming in. Baird should be kept and Kelly shipped out, Dempsey would be a great loss so it doesn't look like a great finish to the transfer window for us Fulham fans.

Arsenal are now being linked with a £10m bid for Clint, which could trigger an improved Fulham bid for Bryan Ruiz (goal.com).

Brian Swanson (Sky) on Twitter saying that Boateng deal is subject to a work permit hearing.

Fulham (also on Twitter) have announced that Ivory Coast youngster and Fulham scholar Cheick Toure has joined French Ligue 1 side, FC Lorient.

In addition to that, turns out Alan Hutton, a player who a number of us saw as a potential solution to our right back woes is probably on his way to Villa for £3m as a replacement for luke Young, another right back we missed out on. Unless something happens in the next couple days, I will put it down as a very frustrating transfer window.

i agree with Fulhamireland, the only one that i like the sound of is boateng and that dont look like its gonna happen,
as much as i dislike AJ we cant let him leave with out bringing in another striker or 2, it looks like it will be a few loan players aswell,

at the moment it looks like it did in the past when we had to loan Shefti Kuqi

I think it was said on here that Klinsman had said Dempsey was thinking over offers he had last time the USA were playing a friendly. Now he is not going to join up with the USA squad till midweek because he is having back spasms?

If the Arsenal bid is true, after all he has done for the club, we'd have to give him the chance of Champions League (but he has played Europa games already!!!), so I'm not sure this will happen. But maybe Sevilla, which has also been rumored.

Cash plus a swap deal for either Chamakh or Bendtner ? would help our striker problem.
or from Sevilla Kanoute or Negredo

I'm not saying I want Jerome Thomas to come, but I saw him play for West Brom against Bournemouth in the league cup the other week and he stood out. Admittedly, that was against lower division opposition. He'd be okay, but the only thing he gives us that our existing wingers don't is pace.

As a back-up to Bobby, I'd happily take Cameron Jerome. I don't see him as the goalscorer we need, but he could be the alternative targetman.

It we're signing Grygera, we don't need Hutton as well. I don't know enough about Grygera, but I'm optimistic about the right-back situation. He's experienced, and as he played several years for Ajax he will probably slot quickly into Jol's style of play. There's no reason to doubt this one until such time as we see something on the pitch that says 'Salcido' rather than 'Riise'.

I'm very surprised about Toure. Yet again, we have a young player talked up by the club as highly promising and then released inexplicably. We seem to do this a lot - Marquez-Sanchez, Wayne Brown.

But there's still time. Let's wait and see.

I was very disappointed we missed out on Luke Young. That just doesn't make sense to me. If I were rating our player needs, I'd put RB equal with striker. We have four people who can play striker; we're one deep at the RB position and Baird's not really a RB.

Super Bri - Klinsmann said in an interview with a US publication back in July that Dempsey was at odds with Fulham management and might be looking for a way out. Dempsey's repeatedly said he's interested in Champion's League.

Normally I'd say let Dempsey go, but I sat and watched the replay of the Newcastle game last night and Dempsey was Fulham's best player by miles. We cannot afford to lose him, not unless we bring in some serious offensive firepower. Losing Dempsey means losing 10 or more goals this year. Subtract 10 goals from last year's output and Fulham drops three or four places on the table.

I'm frustrated at this point, too. This ineffective transfer windows - coupled with an international break - is wrecking my little football world.

I agree with DR, Dempsey is too valuable for us. £10m plus Bendtner if it is Arsenal might do the trick though. Luke Young was a good candidate and if rumours than Hutton is going fir £3m then that's nit good news. Hutton is below 30 I think.

The club us always doing business quietly and hope it is the case.

Let's see tomorrow. Also would expect a couple of loan deals. The Russians down the road have a couple we could use!

Hutton is only 26 - would've been a great signing.

The BBC say that Juventus have released Grygera in advance of a move to us, so it looks like he won't cost us a fee. Hopefully that will save some money for a couple of strikers.

Captain that's good news but again if Hutton is going for £3m that's not something to look down!

Whatever, now is not the right time to be trading experieced players like Dempsey and Baird. Nor, with the paucity of our squad size is the time to contemplate one out one in.

On RBs, I agree with robes, DR and Mad that Young and especially Hutton were missed opportunities. Premiership experience must be a plus point. So disappointing we, apparently, didnt even through our hat in the ring. The Grygera situation is confusing, First we read he's on a free, then its £3m, and now it may be a 1 year loan with Juvo picking up £100k of his £120k per week wages. Probably we'll never learn the true story but you have to wonder what's in it for Grygera. Noted he has dodgy knees.

My son and I are off to Krakow (of all places) tomorrow, for a few days. So will miss out on the nail biting stuff. Hope when we return the back page of the programme has as many whites players as we have fingers.

Good luck all and ... son has reminded me .. COYW

So here is a brief overview of the more noisy transfer rumours for us as at 9am on deadline day:

    Probable:
Zdeněk Grygera - Free agent, free

    Possible:
Bryan Ruiz - FC Twente, £10.6m

    Long shots:
    Jean-Pierre Gignac - Marseilles, loan
    David Bentley - Tottenham, loan
    Cameron Jerome - Birmingham, £5m
Sulley Muntari - Inter Milan, £5m

    Seems unlikely:
Papiss Cisse - SC Freiburg, £13m
    Mounir El Hamdaoui - Ajax , £6m
Mahamadou Diarra - Free agent, free
Wilfried Zaha - Crystal Palace, £2-5m

Not many defenders there. If we can sign up Grygera, Ruiz and a cut price Jerome this would be a decent window for us (assuming Demps & Baird stay, at any rate!). Still hoping that Jol has a defender lined up; Ridgewall would have been ideal if he was right sided rather than left.

Just seen this on the BBC website

"Bobby Zamora just boarded a train at King' Cross heading to Newcastle. Wouldn't comment when asked if he was moving!!!"

Which if it is true we need more than Ruiz up front and potentially Bendtner for me is something we need to push for...
