we dont have the wage budget for it. yes we get a share of the tv money vs city but were still down as it will cost more in policing that what we will get in revenue. as its a cup game we pay towards the policing. thankfully its on tv otherwise we wont have that money to pay the police. we may have to loan a few younsters like keary, harding and hunter for example which will free up money for a loan. so we may get in a loan or 2 when the loan window opens next week. thats if ward decides to get loans. we got players coming back. brunt, harrold, gill and kenneth are all back. clucas be back soon as well. he may wait to see how they get on. i see city have let a few out and got a few in. they may be involved in our game. extra homework for ward to find out more about these players.
I just think we need a few more bodies in the building. Certainly in midfield and out wide. I hope that Ward gets moving in the loan market - we could do with some experienced players who are on the fringes of Championship/League 1 squads. It seems that the financial fair play rules seem to affect some teams more than others. Sure, we've got a lengthy injury list, but most of the new additions to the squad are youngsters who we can't be paying much to (JJOT excepted). We're in the top 5 L2 teams in terms of attendances, so I'm surprised that we haven't got the money to sign one or two.....
its a strange one. but we do have a big squad. if all players are fit we got enough players to have TWO teams and several spare players! team 1: please log in to view this image team 2: please log in to view this image 7 spares.... Keeper: Macey Full Back: Southway Central Defender: Keary Central Midfielder: Goddard Attacking Midfielder: Harding Winger: Hunter Striker: Lucas
You're right, it is a strange one. Because of the number of players on the treatment table it feels that the squad is paper thin. Who do you think he'll play on Weds? Something like: Mildy Smith Parkes McChrystal Brown Lockyer O'Toole Norburn Harrison Clarkson Harrold ??
think ward will go ultra defensive... -----------------mildenhall--------------- smith---parkes---mcchrysta---brown richards-o'toole-lockyer-gill-harrison -----------------harrold------------------ lockyer defensive midfielder. richards more experienced out wide. as not a league game, gill may start to build up his fitness. brunt took a knock vs northampton so start with harrold. clarkson is a tricky one as he returns back to city, what reception will he get? i hope we dont go too defensive. they concede for fun so attack attack attack and terrorise their back line.
I would be bloomin' furious if Ward goes for your selection CJS!! The last thing we need to do is sit back in a local derby. If we go ultra defensive, the likes of JET and Baldock will cause us a lot of problems. Clarkson has to start because a, he's playing well and has an eye for goal at the mo and b, he's bound to score against his former employers. I really don't like Richards out wide - I'd bring him on as a like-for-like swap when and if our front men get tired later in the game. I know that it will be difficult, but we need to take the game to the Teds early on like we did against York and Northampton. An early goal will quieten down the Gate to its familiar funereal atmosphere
i would love to see lockyer man mark JET. lockyer is very fit and he could frustrate JET and JET is known to blow hot and cold. if lockyer can frustrate him then that will be a problem for city. i would like to see us play like this.... 4141 lockyer man marking JET. ------------------Mildenhall------------------ smith----parkes----mcchrystal----brown --------------------lockyer-------------------- santos----clarkson---o'toole----harrison --------------------harrold-------------------- we can play 451 when defending. we can play 442 moving clarkson up front with harrold and lockyer in the middle with o'toole when we need it. we can play 433 moving santos and harrison further up to support harrold with their pace to get the knock ons, with o'toole/clarkson just behind when we need to attack.
