Deadline day does not seem to offer many changesat Bristol City FC..
please log in to view this image

Possibilities Wells and Palmer out depends on activities from Cardiff, B/mouth,Swansea and QPR, Birmingham are now not showing any interest.

Massengo and Scott pledged to keep, Bentley possible Southampton interest.

Suprise maybe Semenyo superb form of late may have created some late activity.

Timm Klose may be our only acquisition.

I think an early night is recommended for us all tonight.

    * Bournemouth getting this moving
The Cherries are on a mission today and we understand they want to make four signings; Siriki Dembele and Todd Cantwell should be two of them and Kieffer Moore looks like being a third with Sky Sports reporting that a £3.5m offer has been agreed.

If Moore is to complete a move to the Vitality Stadium that will then force the Bluebirds into action and Nahki Wells comes into play.

    * What Steve Morison said on Wells
The Cardiff manager wasn't giving too much away when asked directly about interest in Nahki Wells in the wake of the Bluebirds win over Nottingham Forest.

We have spoken to loads of people. But that whole process where we were trying to get Jordan (Hugill) and Alfie (Doughty), someone must be giving this information to someone.

I enquired for him, I couldn't have him, so then I enquired about Uche (Ikpeazu), for example. By the time I got back inside there was a thing being released that we were about to sign Uche!

There are loads of irons in the fire if I need to react to anything. But as of now, no.

    * Will Pato find a new club
The playmaker could be on the move at Swansea City due to hhis contract dispute and has three clubs interested.

    * Webster and Kelly set to stay
Not exactly the biggest revelation you're going to read today but it looks highly likely that Adam Webster and Lloyd Kelly will remain Brighton and Bournemouth players at least until the summer with Newcastle set to sign Dan Burn today.

If that transpires that denies City a nice little winter windfall from the resale clauses they hold for both former Robins.

Tbh, to last us out the season, I think we’re ok.. injured players coming back and using the youngsters, plus the performances have been encouraging lately, there’s no need to panic buy..

City reject Nahki Wells loan offer from Cardiff
Bristol City have rejected a loan offer from Cardiff City for Nahki Wells, made last night in lieu of Kieffer Moore leaving for Bournemouth.

As reported earlier, Peterborough were also an interested party for the 31-year-old but Wells has no intention of signing for the Posh.

The expectation is the Bermudian will now stay with City for the remainder of the season with Nigel Pearson considering him a valuable member of the squad.

    No change there then.
I've become used to being underwhelmed - it's been the same for as long as I can remember. I'd actually forgotten that today was the deadline!!

I'm more concerned with being able to stay dry for the rest of the week after today - needed to do it and give my body a rest. I have 2 specific events coming up but those are the only 2 'special' occasions over the next fortnight where I will allow myself a 'real' beer before my holiday.
This may not sound earth-shattering for many of you, but for me it's a significant change - I got used to reaching for (several) beers every single day - it is too easy for me to do - my fridge is always stocked and it's easy for me to pop to the local. I've been an absolute beer-monster for too long.
I've decided on a lifestyle change - I want my energy back and I want to start playing 5-a-side again.

Watching the city doesn’t help!! Good luck to you.. I used to like many beers, wine, brandy & cokes, ran a bar back in the 80s.. even have an outside bar where I live (mainly for guests). have to say, I rarely touch the stuff anymore.. when we have guests or special occasions..

Thankfully it's only beer. I hardly ever drink spirits and have only the occasional glass of wine.
In fact, if I only count my wine and spirits consumption, I'd be well within the NHS recommended number of weekly units.
It's my beer consumption that pushes me WELL off the scale - until now.
I turned 55 yesterday - I've decided that I want to see out a few more birthdays.

I think we have a need for right sided right back personally, DaSilva is doing ok but is a left back, Tanner is injured and Vyner is Vyner.

Maybe depending on the fitness of James, King and Williams a midfielder might be an option, because if their fitness is suspect then we would be screwed if either Scott or Massengo became injured.

A man after my own heart. I drank a lot of spirits when I was younger but rarely touch them these days. A Gin or 2 (or Pimms) in Summer and a Malt or 2 at Xmas (although I didn't have any over the Xmas just gone), wine I can take or leave, but beer and I have a very long association.
I think it's mainly to do with my working background as a Computer Operator for 18 years from the last '70's to mid 90's as you know, but I just love the stuff.
As a New Year resolution I promised myself at least one dry day a week in 2022, but I've yet to make it actually happen. But give it time and it might.
    I'm 62 in September

Just a bt of clarification guys. Despite reports, Cardiff didn't make an offer to take Wells. Morison contacted at least 8 clubs about the availability of front men because of the expected Kieffer Moore exit - Wells was one of them but the appoach for discussion was knocked back by Pearson.

As well as Wells, Preston's Maguire, Boro's Ikpeazu, Norwich's Hugill, Stoke's Surridge, Ipswich's Tyreece Simpsom and Orient's Harry Smith were amongst them. Apparently there are quite few "unpublicised" enquiries about others. I feel the same as you seem to suggest - Wells is a waste of money.

We've now got Hugill (the one Morison wanted) and looks like frontman Surridge from Stoke to join his wingback team mate Doughty who has also just arrived on loan. It'll be an interesting run in for the rest of the season.

Staying up is paramount, but I'd suggest that stabilising and building in this upcoming period is critical for both of us. <ok>

I think another 6 points on the gap between a level 30 games to team in 22nd will see you out. thats not finishing on 32 but teams below almost impossible to catch you ! as you get toward 53points

However richly deserved the points deductions have been, it's worth remembering that without them, Derby would be comfortable mid table right now and Reading would be above us. That's the real "footballing" landscape we're in and demonstrates how poor weve been.

We've got trapdoor clubs Barnsley and Peterborough up next with a "Liverpool 4th round FA Cup sandwich" in between. Our postponed game is our home match against Derby so it's really down to us. As for you, we're 8 points behind you but with 2 games in hand - what's the betting we can get past you? :emoticon-0105-wink:

I can’t see any movement now, either in or out. We are pretty much safe now, keep any scope we do have for the summer. Semenyo coming good up front and Klose as an addition at the back will see us through for now.

I’d be surprised if you do, we’ve turned a corner recently in terms of performance, points will follow shortly all being well. Even if you win all your games in hand you’ll still be below us and Games are running out.

    you have Derby twice!
Basically the second half of season reverse of first is "6" games in. after [23 games you managed 22 pts?] so 44 should me an at least figure. and an improvement of 9 pts = 53! BCFC is looking at 58!

    Cardiff make fresh Wells offer
Bristol Live understands Cardiff have made another attempt to sign Bristol City striker Nahki Wells on loan with an improved offer.

The Bluebirds had an approach turned down last night but with Kieffer Moore joining Bournemouth and proposed replacement Sam Surridge potentially off to Nottingham Forest, they appear to have turned their attentions back to Wells.

The new proposal involves Cardiff taking a greater proportion of the Bermudian's wages, which is the primary factor for moving him on, really. It all depends on how much is appropriate and worthwhile for the Robins.

Then there's the consideration that Wells might not actually want the move, depending on what Nigel Pearson has planned for him in the second half of the season.

    Cardiff also want Kasey Palmer!
It's not just Nahki Wells the Bluebirds have made an offer for, they've also made a loan bid for Kasey Palmer!

The playmaker has been very much on the periphery of the squad this season and like Wells is among the higher earners at the club so isn't providing value for money on the pitch.

Having seen QPR and Birmingham look elsewhere, Cardiff could the last remaining avenue for the 25-year-old however, as has been the case up to now, Palmer doesn't want a loan move.

Therefore even if City accept, the playmaker could choose to stay at Ashton Gate and assess his opportunities in the summer.
