I would love to see some of our youth team coming through, but as yet I don't see anyone close to the breakthrough. That being the case how much should we spend NETT this summer, given that we have averaged 3 mill in credit each year for the last 6 years. My view is at least 50mill again I stress nett. Podolski is a good start but at @ 10 mill he should be considered a bargain.
I think we only need to spend £20m net OUT: £30m in from Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela, Squillaci, Denilson, Almunia, and Arshavin (+possibly Diaby which woul dmake it more) IN: £10m Podolski 2 * £20m players - a creative mid (like Eriksen?) and a CB (like Vertognhen who can also play FB) £50m total £20m net. By the way thats also about £20m less on wages over 4 years

Speculative - but would be great if we could do it. Personally, I think it would be difficult to offload all of the above players and bring in £30m for them. I think we could sell Arshavin, Bendtner and Chamakh for around £15m combined, but who would want to buy the others? I don't think we could raise another £15m from their sales. The saving in wages would be worth it if we could move them on though. Even if we have to take a hit on their market value. As for bringing players in, Podolski is a great signing and at £10m a good price too. I've said from the beginning of the season that we need another CB and that we need to replace one of Fabreags or Nasri. I'd also like to see a DM brought in, but I think Wenger will wait for Frimpong to come back. I think the bulk of our money this summer will go on an attacking Midfielder.

I think it's highly speculative to suggest that we could offload all of them. We tried to sell Denilson last summer and nobody wanted him, what makes anyone think it will be different this summer? I think the same might go for Squillaci and Almunia, who would want them? Unless it's lower league teams - and they are not going to be paying top dollar. Out of that list. I think we could sell for Bendtner, Chamakh and Arshavin, but I don't think we'd get much more than £15m combined.
Of course its speculative - the whole thread is a speculative one. I am assuming that Wenger and team will go into the summer with a plan to offload these players. It will be tough, but that is one of the things he is paid for.
Another way of putting it, would be that it would likely be quite difficult to offload all of them. Great if we can, but the evidence suggests that it will be difficult to sell them all.
One of the big problems is going to occur if we don't qualify for CL, which is still very possible. Both Vertonghen amd M'Vila are wanted by other clubs. Up until last week I thought that the deals had more or less been done, but now I really am very concerned that the only players we will get are some more one hit wonders. We really don't need any more like Gervinho Chamakh, Park etc. But who else will be interested?
Im not sure about that. Just because they arnt good enough for us. They are still better players than 50% of the Premierleague and 90% of the French league. There should be plenty of buyers around.
In terms of youth players maybe the likes of aneke and afobe will get game time next season, also the likes of miyachi and joel campbell. Hopefully get rid of all the players you have mentioned apart from diaby and get in vertonghen m'villa and eriksen hopefully and podolski is already signed, what is the situation with denilson aswel?
Maybe, but I don't think we should be holding out for top money for them. Basically they are players who can't cut it at the top, have very little game time and we are trying to offload, so they will not command much of a transfer fee.
