04/02/2012 by West London Sport The father of QPR youngster Michael Doughty has been found dead at his home in Lincolnshire. Nigel Doughty, owner of Nottingham Forest, was 54. He bought Forest in 1999 for £11m and took over as chairman at the City Ground three years later. A lifelong fan, he is estimated to have invested more than £100m of his personal fortune in the Championship*club. Michael Doughty, 19, is a product of QPRâs youth system and made his first-team debut in an FA Cup tie against Blackburn last season. Condolences to the Doughty family. I heard about this earlier but didn't relate it to Michael. RIP Nigel.
Absolutely! Fifty-four is no age at all. I'm not that far off myself. Condolences to Michael and his family.
Apparently he was found in the gym at home. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I know he was hounded by Forest protestors after the Steve McLaren appointment. I think what I'm trying to say is that I hope it was a natural death, if you know what I mean. Tragic, Nigel Doughty was Forest through and through.
Very, very sad. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. I heard about this on the radio, but was unware that Nigel Doughty was Michael's father. It doesn't make it any more tragic, but does bring it closer to home. RIP Nigel Doughty
