Within this past week two young sports stars met horrible deaths in tragic accidents in Northern Ireland. On Thursday morning young Brian Og Maguire was hit by a snapped pylon in the concrete block making factory on the Fermanagh Cavan Border. He received serious neck injuries and died on the way to Hospital aged just 24 and a very gifted GAA player. He represented his home club Lisnaskea Emmets and his County, Fermanagh. A player of outstanding ability with a wonderful future. Brian leaves behind, his girlfriend, mother and father and two sisters. On Saturday evening at Hillsborough County Down a father and two sons tragedy lost their lives in a slurry pit accident. Apparently the family dog was getting into difficulties and the father tried to rescue the dog. Nevin Spence a young Rugby player followed his older brother who went to rescue their father. The three got into difficulties and then their sister also tried to help. The emergency fighters came in and removed the four members of the family as quickly as possible. Nevin and father were unfortunately both dead. The older brother died on the way to hospital but thank God the sister has recovered and was allowed home last night. Young Nevin Spence was just 22 years old and had got 42 caps or Ulster and an A cap for Ireland. He was regarded as a very exciting prospect and was expected to have a long career at the very top for Ulster and Ireland as centre. Nevin visited young Oscar on Thursday, many of you may know, Celtic are taking up collections. Wee Oscar is currently getting treatment for Cancer.
