Are there any players left from when Hyypia was playing? Were Skrtel and Lucas already there? Not sure what effect that would have - if it's easier to coach people who you didn't play with, or if the players who know him from before would have more respect for him. I don't know how well known he would be to the likes of, say, Moreno.

Hyypia may have been a shoddy manager, but he proved to be a top drawer defender for us meaning he's got a defensive mind at the very least. Take him away from the spot lights of being the main man and let him focus on his part of the team - defending and organising - and he'd be a good addition. It shows at the least that the club recongise that Rodgers is a prat who is stubborn and can't coach defenders!

Would love him and Pako - not just one though.

Don't think this attitude of just teach defending works though.

It's got to be total football approach.

All 11 have to work for each other and I don't think just hiring hyppia means better set piece either

If it were that simple then people would say Mr pulis come work for me for 5mil and set up my defense fir 3 months then bugger off
 
Sami Hyypia and Rene Meulensteen seem to be the most likely names now.

One can only conclude discussions are underway as in 3 weeks time preseason is likely to get going.

Sami could well improve our defence which positionally is crap. His entire game was being in the right place at the right time, very seldom you saw him make desperate last minute lunge type tackles, just read the game brilliantly. By far the best all round centre back I have seen playing for LFC.

As to Rene, did he not say that Utd's success was down to him and not Fergie? Big statement to make!

Rene is a world class coach and he was the one leading sessions at United.

I want him but also Pako - Pako is an excellent tactician, defensive and fitness coach. One of the best.

Get these two in around Rodgers and I'd be a lot more confident.

Also, I find it very strange that there has been no public statement from owners or even Rodgers about his job or new signings etc. No leaks, no comments, interviews ..

I'm not 100% Rodgers is safe at the moment, especially with Klopp's agent talking again about how Klopp wants to be in England, no CL isn't a big thing and how he would cut short his sabbatical ...

Really rodgers should know day one a lot of questions will come his way.

It would be best a strong coaching line up is in place before that.

It's a lot more silent than usual so I'd say anyone looking for leaks should see who is on hols

Hyypia was number 2 at Leverkuson before he was manager and was very popular. Thats how he earnt the managers job, which he started very well in but sllipped up.

Kovacic or whatever his name is , is done basically. £16.6m. According to some reports personal terms to be sorted according to others personal terms were already agreed and the purchase price (which is now agreed) was the sticking point.

yeah thats the issue there we are not quite sure and are almost in a waiting game to see what occurs over next week or so. as tow sides contradict we can only hope.
