At the bottom of the HDM article about Koren it says Townsend has been the subject of loan offers from L1 clubs, but that we're not going to decide until nearer the end of the window.

I can only assume that means that at the moment he's being considered as a fringe player for the first team squad. He's 3rd choice left back behind Dudge and Daws though, so could we be looking at struggling to get in the winger we want and be looking at using Dudgeon as a winger instead? Can't see why else we'd stop Townsend going out and getting some game time.

Because of our lack of senior players at the moment Bruce might have decided that good players, whatever their position are worth having around. Dudgeon can play left and right back, left midfield and centre midfield, and Townsend can play all down the left side. Also, Dawson hasn't played at all in preseason so they might be waiting to see the extent of any injuries he's got before letting another fit left back leave.

Aye as Goochie said he has been used as a winger a couple of times this pre season so he's useful as a versatile squad player. It looks like Dudge will be given the chance to start as 1st choice left back seen as Daws has been injured. So until we get any wingers in I can see Townsend vying for the left back spot whilst being an impact sub on the left wing if we have injuries. However as soon as we get wingers in I can see him going to one of the league one clubs as Bruce was saying in his interview to Humberside last night that players under 20 or 21 should be getting first team football somewhere.

I haven't heard the interview, but if true I dont like that. One of my main problems with Steve Bruce is his record with young players, seemingly preferring an average old player over a good young one.

This is the best crop of young players weve had since ive been going, and I want to see them develop into good players here.

If Stewart cant hit any form, would like to see Dudgeon given a chance at left wing, looks good going forward, Long throw could come in handy with prozzy too.
