Would it be a giant killing? I suppose it would. I think this is the best chance Town have had of progressing past a top flight side since the semi final of 2011. I won’t be able to watch tonight but I think it will be an absolute cracker. The most important thing is that Town confidently develop the football we all want them to serve up and don’t revert to hoofball. 2-1 Town.
If we play like we have in spells, the stronger more fluent midfield and attack, then we have a good chance of pulling this off.Club morale must be a tad higher than end of last season! No news of imminent transfers either, a few customary knocks, so it will be good to get Woolfy and Downes back as soon as. Chambo really needs re-placing now. Done his time - cue another thundering header in first 10 mins to set up a confident beating of a Prem team! 2-1 Town.
Unfortunately I cant see anything other than a comfortable Fulham win. I wasn't too impressed with the performance against Wigan, especially in defence where we looked extremely vulnerable. Fulham should pick us off easily. I know its a one off cup game, where we are the underdogs, but unlike most underdogs playing against superior opposition, we never seem to have any fight in us. We're way too soft. I'll predict a 1-3 loss, with a late consolation goal for Hawkins
Huws has best chance at end. First game I have watched for a time, and not impressed I have to say. No real sweat for Fulham, a lesson in swift passing, fluent movement and we have nothing in the middle tonight. And, no real fight from us. Lambert clearly protecting his key players for the week-end.
Downes back on the pitch, is his head all there? If Town began to play a bit, with energy, it might help him change his mind!
Better 2nd half, but no real shots on goal. I must be the only fan watching this weird night, and the 8 club groundsmen and officials. Signing off now, and look forward to more passion from Town in the League...it wont be the Premier league for years, if ever. Cornell about or best player, tho defense have done nothing really wrong.
Not surprised by the loss. Paul made a lot of changes to the team and a lot of the lads haven't played much.
Wasn’t impressed with Cornell in pre season so it’s good if he’s settling in now. How did Dobra and Hawkins get on?
Really appalling defending for the goal. If Mitrovic doesn't score unchallenged there's a chap completely unmarked on the back stick. I thought Paul Lambert played as a defender in a Champions League winning side?
Pretty sure that one is dead in the water. What he should understand is they were perhaps prepared to take a punt on him as a young player but it doesn't mean he'd walk into the side. If it was any more than a punt they'd have upped their offer.
Cornell made some fine stops, could have been 3 or 4 up. His distribution was fair to middling, preferring to hoof up front, making our weakened attack cannon fodder for their strong defense. However, there were glmpses and spells of our recent improved style of play, and if...ho..ho..we had scored jut before half time, we might have had more zing about us. Not a disgrace or embarrassment th, and more or less fit first team for Saturday. Worth a tenner? Just about for a Cup game.
And to reply to Hampy's Qs, Dobra ok, played quite well & Hawkins gained experience and game time with the big fellas, but out of his depth and class really.
TBH Hampy, that was Town's only really serious defensive howler, apart from missing our top choice RB, who was skinned several tmes by their pace and fine crosses.
