    Ok so there was a bit of a false alarm with Joey Barton...

    but the opening game is lining up to be a cracker with Nuno Gomes having signed to 'help' the evil Blackburn Rovers alongside Leon Best and Danny Murphy... by the time the match comes around Blackburn will have a star-studded line up of has beens and wage hungry players.... boo, hiss!!!

    In all seriousness... parachute payments are supposed to help financially with paying Premier League contracts. But is it right that a side that comes down can sign players the rest of the league can't afford?

    Good player Gomes. Not sure if he can cut the physical side of Div 2 i.e. he's going to get hoofed all over. <ok>

    Saw him interviewed yesterday for Sky Sports News... historically Blackburn is a big club in English football apparently.

    I'm not sure he has any idea what he's let himself in for.
