Thoughts guys? Personally i feel that the £8-10 million quoted is not enough, the reason being that Henderson and Jones went for more than this and strikers command more money!!! I think we should keep CW and see where we are at the end of the season. Wickham and Chopra up top could be a lethal partnership and help send us to the promised land! As for JJ Shelvey, could be a good move but only on a permanent deal, why would we want to help Liverpool out by giving one of their players more playing time and helping him to improve as well as giving them Wickham. If CW wants to leave i would say £13m and Shelvey on a permanent deal, nothing less!!
Whats the point in selling CW if we don't need the money and he doesn't want to go. I don't want to see loan players ( hopefully ) getting us promoted and then going back to their parent club, we are then left with big holes in the team which we may not fill. I would rather see our young talent grown within the team. If, and its a big if, CW does turn out to be as good as we all hope then let it be with Ipswich. All of the most successful sides are sides where a nucleus of players stay together for a period of time and where one or two team changes occur each season. Personally I don't care if Liverpool come in with £20 million tell 'em to get lost, unless its what Connor wants, let him develop here and enjoy promotion. Ipswich don't need a quick fix they need to build from the ground up and the only way they'll do that is by keeping 5/6 players together who know each others games, sprinkled with experience and young talent. Its no good getting millions for him because although we could then go and buy players we still couldn't afford the wages for good players.
Really do not want J J Shelvey. Have seen him a few times, and he was utter garbage. He may improve one day, however I really don't get the fuss. He has the turning circle of the titanic and is quite slow - it would be like having Owen Garvan all over again! However, I would like Ecclestone or Spearing ( quite unlikely I'd say ). Those I would take gladly.
