Ipswich Town Sign QPR's Campbell Friday, 5th Oct 2012 12:05Town have completed the signing of QPR striker DJ Campbell on a three-month loan. Earlier today, TWTD revealed that the 30-year-old had arrived at the club to put pen to paper. As reported last week, the Blues failed to land Campbell prior to the Barnsley game as cover for the sidelined Paul Taylor and Michael Chopra with the striker expected to join Blackpool. But despite protracted negotiations that deal didn't go through. Having been a youth player with QPR and Aston Villa, much-travelled Campbell began his senior career in non-league with the likes of Chesham, Stevenage Borough, Billericay Town and Yeading before moving into the Football League with Brentford and then the Premier League with Birmingham. Since then, the Londoner has represented Leicester, Derby and Blackpool (twice on loan, once permanently), before returning to QPR again last summer for a fee of £1.2 million. Having rarely been involved with Rangers, the former England C international had long been tipped for a fourth spell with the Seasiders. Campbell, who will wear the Town number five shirt, may well go straight into the team facing Cardiff live on Sky tomorrow evening with Chopra perhaps left on the bench after this week's off-field issues.
Ipswich Town - I think TWTD is an acronym for Those Were The Days - it's actually a good site - I've looked on it before.
Glad to see that it's only a 3 month deal. Really hope that he bangs them in for them and makes it imposssible to leave him out of our squad in January. Best of luck Deadly Dudley
My better half practically lives on there. He is what they need right now and vice versa. A few goals, with our striking issues mean he might just have a chance.
