BOBBY Zamora believes Queens Park Rangers' (QPR) pre-season tour of Asia will be vital preparation for the coming English Premier League (EPL) season.

QPR will play their first pre-season match against a Sabah Selection today in Kota Kinabalu and then face Kelantan on Friday in Shah Alam before heading to Indonesia for a friendly on July 25.

"There has been a lot of transfer activity at QPR over the last year or so, and in particular in the last six months, so it will be good for everyone to spend some time together ahead of the new season," said Zamora in a statement.

"With each new signing that comes through the door, there is added expectancy on us and on what we can achieve this season.

"What's important now is that we prepare properly and make sure we are in good shape collectively and as individuals."

The 31-year-old striker said the new signings are excited about playing as a unit with the regulars for the first time today.

"We are going to work hard tomorrow (today) as we all desperately want to do well in the EPL," Zamora added.

QPR's new signings -- Park Ji Sung, Ryan Nelsen, Andy Johnson, Rob Green, Samba Diakite and loan signing Fabio da Silva -- are likely to play today.

Defender Anton Ferdinand, meanwhile, is pleased to once again return to Southeast Asia after a short visit to Indonesia recently.

"I had a great time in Jakarta earlier this month when I went there to play in an exhibition match," said Ferdinand, who added that this tour will give the new singings an opportunity to settle in.

The majority of the Sabah Selection squad will come from their Malaysia Games gold medal-winning team and fringe players from the state side, along with Indonesia's Titus Bonai and Oktavianus Maniani, Australia's Robbie Gaspar. Singapore's Baihakki Khaizan, Johor's Nazrul Erwan Makmur and Kuala Lumpur's Pritam Singh.
