They think we're 'Humberside'. Having Humberside Police, Humberside Airport, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Humberside Radio etc doesn't help.

Nowt historic about Humberside, the council ended 17 years ago.

Most want it finished and go back to our traditional county of East Yorkshire.

Humberside goes back many, many decades, and the name will live on (see various other threads).

I'm assuming you mean the East Riding not 'traditional county of East Yorkshire' which of course has never existed.

Hull City Council leader Stephen Brady was also disappointed the region had missed out.

He said Hull had been overlooked since the days of regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, a body which sought to promote the region.

He said: “I am deeply disappointed but not surprised.

“Hull is often overlooked in Yorkshire compared to other cities.

We certainly don’t get our fair share – we didn’t under Yorkshire Forward and we are not getting it now.”

**** off Brady you negative dwarf.

People like you are the reason we didn't get this. Your blunt and bitter confrontational loser's mentality is a big turn off for anyone wanting to do business with this part of the world, and you continue to con the electorate that 'they're all against us, I tell you'.

Wise up Stumpy- you hold back this region.

Hull is in the traditional three Ridings of Yorkshire and our part is generally known as East Yorkshire (for short). That's history & tradition that gets lost because of the Humberside tag.

Humberside was a ****e made up county back in the 70s that nobody wanted. Even Scunny and Grimsby want to revirt back to Lincolnshire or NE Lincolnshire.

    Oh dear, not again....

East Yorkshire, like Humberside, is a descriptive term for a a region.

The East Riding is generally known as .......the East Riding.

Everybody in the Country knows us as Humberside, and think we are nothing to do with Yorkshire

The Tour is travelling through Yorkshire, Humberside sadly was never gonna be part of that, makes me think we might as well be done with it and rejoin with The Dutch and be part of Holland again lol

Sorry but that's not true either. We are in Yorkshire.

This Tour route has been carefully selected to showcase the picturesque hilly parts of Yorkshire in the opening stage- in other words the areas that the Yorkshire Tourist Board (or whatever they're called) believe will charm foreigners or sceptical ignorant Brits into considering Yorkshire as a holiday destination. Possibly some degree of technical difficulty (hill climb) has also influenced the route.

It's disappointing for those of us in this part of the world but not a massive shock.
