Looks like a very tough start for town this season with the following Fixtures: August 6th Bristol City (A) 13th Hull (H) 16th Southampton (H) 20th Peterborough (A) 27th Leeds (H) September 10th Blackpool (A) 17th Coventry (H) 24th Middlesbrough (A) 27th West Ham (A) Although I'd like to think are tun in is pretty good...obviously depending on the teams form coming into them March 17th Peterborough (H) 20th Burnley (H) 24th Watford (A) 31st Barnsley (H) April 7th Derby (A) 9th Leicester (H) 14th Crystal Palace (A) 17th Birmingham (H) 21st Millwall (H) 28th Donny (A) January looks a tough month aswell!
Championship fixture release day is probably the biggest non-event of the season, its so impossible to tell who the good teams are going to be, but based on last season id say we cant complain that its a hard start to the season, anything lower then tenth after the first month would be a very poor return in my eyes (assuming everyone in the top ten doesn't have the same record.)
you play everyone twice. Who cares in what order. The best teams will win more than they lose. We make most fixtures look hard.
Personally, rightly or wrongly, I'm far more optimistic than that for this season coming. But time will tell.
I know what the first 3 responses have stated are pretty much true but I still get the feeling you might be playing it down a bit more in hope of a really good start to the season? I accept last season and this coming season are likely to be quite different but based on last season I would not see much more than maybe 4 - 7 points out of the opening 6 fixtures.
didn't we have a " tough start " last season away at boro, easy 3-1 win.......... Last season you were my surprise package. Like forest were the season b4. The only issue is I backed Forest but didn't follow my gut feeling with your lot ! Unsure how your will do in the Prem. With Martinez staying at Wigan, I'd consider that baddddd news. QPR are gonna spend, and to me Swansea may be a better proposition again to stay up that your lot. I think you will play good footy and give it a good go though. Time will tell whether your good enough to stay up. As for us - its our first actual manager since Joe Royle, he's signed 2 quality players so far, we're getting rid of a load of rubbish and we are starting to just feel 'right'. I could be wrong, but I feel this should be our best season since 04/05. Where we finish remains to be seen. Looking forwards to it
Yes, Boro defied the bookies odds and went in to freefall from day 1 I only hope we can survive, it is not expected - think most of our fans would echo that. With the people PJ has got in and has been linked with, you guys could well have a far better season and that is fine by me if you do. Again a hope would be if you get promoted, we survive so we can have the Derby games again.
It's been a while since the last top flight "Old farm derby" sadly. We were third in November last year and looked what happend after that! It's not how start it's how you blah blah blah... Most of all this season I just want to see some good football and have a bit of excitment.
On paper i think the start looks pretty good for us and would expect us to win majority of those games!!
I would actually prefer for us to go up as Champions and you to be relegated by Christmas, but deep down I know I am dreaming ... we will only win the playoffs!
