These are tough times for smaller clubs like ours so we need to maximise our income whenever we can. The answer is simple. Sign players with long surnames so fans pay more to get the names of their favourite on the back of their shirt. So bring on Venegoor of Hesselink, Taylor - Fletcher and Wright Phillips. Who else should we have in the team? Better stick with footballers cos Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is rubbish.........
We could have these too Jakub Blaszczykowski – he plays for borussia dortmund Juninho Pernambucano- Vasco da Gama Lazaros Christodoulopoulos- Panathinaikos There are loads to choose from. I would feel sorry for Derek Payne as he struggles with Iwelumo at the best of times.
Maybe a quick scouting trip to Sri Lanka might unearth a few long names. Wages would be cheap and, as they already play in yellow, they could bring their own shirts - or have their sweat shops sponsor us and provide them for free.
That is so weird!! When I saw the thread about squad numbers for next season, I thought we should introduce three digit squad numbers. So, John Eustace could be 440. Chris Iwelumo could be 678 (after his age). Not only would this result in a dramatic increase in profits from shirt sales, but could also work in our advantage with opposing teams. For instance, they would see the squad sheet, and think, "wow, they must be scraping the barrel with this team. They haven't even chosen the youngsters (identified by the higher numbered double digits such as Adam Johnson's 29)", which would result in them underestimating us, and therefore being shocked into defeat.
BBW - aren't they getting a bit old and slow enough without all that 'weight' of the numbers on their backs?
A number costs what....£1 or £2? If 10,000 people buy the new shirt (which is highly optimistic?) that is £20,000 gained tops....for the sake of looking stupid. That is forgetting the costs of doing it of course...
The other direction is to have a team with short names so the fans thnk that getting a name printed will be cheap so they all get a shirt. Ba Ng U are all very short and at GBP2 for one letter you only make a few pounds for each shirt but all shirts may have a name on them.
