What with the news of the injuries, I would swap Hill with Bosingwa and play him at R/CB. I wouldn't play Hoilett in this one. ( I thought you wasn't a fan of his anyway col. ) Maybe bring him on later in the game if need be. I would go with what you think Hughes would start with, it just seems like a more MH team to me. Are you placing Bosingwa at LB to try to counteract Lennon?

No way can we play Hill at left back against the pace of Lennon and Walker!! I've never said I don't like Hoilett mate....I'd play him for his pace on the break. I'm playing Bosingwa at left back cos there's no one else imo and he's quick. As much as I like Adel, I wouldn't start him tomorrow, as we need real work rate in the wide areas. He could play off Zamora, but I'd use Hoilett's pace there.
It's lose/lose with Hill playing anywhere in defence. Alongside Nelsen you've got 2 slow centre backs against Defoe who doesn't take much to get going, or out on the left against Lennon's pace. My opinion is that you'll have to set up to defend deep and in numbers, that means everyone chasing back and working hard. To that end I wouldn't play Hoilett unless you have one up top and an extra man in midfield. Our most notable weakness is at left back with Naughton probably starting, although he may be out and we could see Vertonghen moved out to the left and Caulker brought into the middle. Other Spurs fans will disagree with me but I think they've been generous in praising Naughton's performances, he's not been great defensively and has looked awkward on the ball in attack. Other than left back I think the other choice will be between Sigurdsson and Dempsey. It's a tough one to call but I think I'd go with Dempsey as he adds a more physical presence and I can see him linking up with Defoe well. Should be a good game tomorrow but I'm not going to lie to you, I expect us to win. The only way I can see us being frustrated is by negative tactics like we saw from Lazio midweek but I'm not sure you've really got the players for that.
Is that the same Defoe you've been trying to flog for the last three years? I've lost count the amount of times he was linked with us. Not the way to treat your best players, eh?
Hill was in the defence that played against Defoe in April, he hardly had a kick. I know he's in better form now, so we'll see
Well, I reckon we can beat the Totempole hotdogs 3-1. Over the next few hours, history will show will win it. Never in doubt! QPR until I die, oh yeh! Come on you Hoops!
A player's lack of pace is never so exaggerated when they play at centre back. Nelsen is quite slow and he had a very quick Torres in his pocket all afternoon last week! If this game was in a month's time or so, I'd fancy us to get something, but, with our injuries and some new players not yet settled, I think you'll win by at least a couple.
Think I dislike spuds more than Chelsea infact I know I do, not really the team but they are the worst set of moaning a hole fans around
It's all papertalk. Bale's also been linked with moves away in the sametime but there's never been any evidence that he was angling for a move. One of our best players? Not in the last 2 seasons when he's been linked with a move away. He has struggled for the most part in recent years, partly down to him not putting in enough work, as he admitted. I can't think of a defender that hasn't been able to keep Torres quiet since he's joined Chelsea( ) but I take your point, he's a good defender. I was just saying that it could be a problem as some of you were predicting starting a fairly open, attacking formation that would leave them exposed away from home on a bigger pitch.
You answered it yourself, he was out of form I wouldn't take much from our performance under 'Arry in the last months of our season though, same applies for your performance at the Lane under Warnock. Defoe seems to be better suited to AVB's style, we'll just have to wait and see but if you stand off against Defoe he can wack one in from outside the area, if you push up he can get in behind. Eitherway he'll need to bring his shooting boots to be effective, as good as he was on Sunday he still missed a few sitters.
very diffrent Col...do they have to carry those "-" around with them then and not go past someone elses!! lol
I turned down a spurs season ticket from a friend who can't go. I didn't want to sit in their end for obvious reasons but its pissing down now so just as well. Hows it going to affect the match?
