Refreshing stance from a great player. Instead of most of these mercenary bastards.

Roma legend Francesco Totti has criticised the big-money transfers in Serie A and questioned the motivation of the league's top stars following Gonzalo Higuain's £76m move to Juventus.

The Argentine striker sealed his move to the Italian champions on Tuesday from Napoli, who had finished nine points behind Massimo Allegri's side in the league table.

And Totti believes the 28-year-old's move is damaging to the credibility of the Italian game, as Juve look to seal an unprecedented sixth successive title.
Speaking to Italian publication Gazetta World, the 39-year-old slammed Serie A stars for chasing glory with money-spinning transfers.

'Maybe this is the difference between me and everyone else. There aren’t many athletes who follow their hearts,' he said.
They choose to go somewhere to win more and earn more money. They’re like gypsies.

'If I thought only about the money and the finances, I would have changed teams 10 years ago.
'I’d earn more in respect to what I make now with Roma. For me it’s another choice, one of passion, not money.'

Totti was particularly critical of Higuain's move to Juventus, labelling it a 'disaster' for Serie A.

'Look at what’s happened now with Gonzalo Higuain leaving Napoli for Juventus. It’s a disaster.

'But, it’s completely normal now that when a foreigner comes to Italy he has the possibility of going to another team to make more money.'

I don't think it's a disaster for Serie A at all. If Napoli sell Koulibaly then they'll have £120m to spend on new players and it's good for Serie A to have the largest domestic transfer in history.

    My heart bleeds.

The opinion of an overly paid footballer, concerning another overly paid footballer is about as relevant as North Korea's leader's view on democracy.

He looks like Chubby Brown but with Sid Jame's ability to be a dirty old bastard, sprinkled with a bit of old Steptoe for class.

Honestly, was expecting boobs in this thread.

He just lets us down whenever he starts a thread, I should be used to it by now.
