    Tottenum Hotspurs

    vs.
    Swansea Sitty

    Venew: White Heart Lane

    Date: Sunday 1st April 2012

    Time: 4am

[Scottswan is still unable to do a match thread so yore stuck with me for another week :)]

Well, my mates have all gone off to Majorca for the week and they didn’t invite me along :( The pub we go to, which is the Stag and Dalek in Aber-garngoch-dulais, only has rugby fans apart from us so no help there then. Looks like I’ll have to do this one all by myself!

Welcome one and all to the match thread for the game between Tottenum and Swansea.

Well, it’s a funny name for a football team - Tottenum Hotspurs. Anyone know where it came from? Anyway, I think they play in London, maybe somewhere near the Emirates stadium?

They have had some good players down the years such as:

    Jimmy Grieves
    Glen Hoddle
    Ozzy Ardiles
    Stephen Caulker

Can you think of any more?

Their manager is Harry Rednap and his son is Jamie Rednap who used to play football but now models clothes for Marks and Spencer. He is married to Beyonce.

We drew 1-1 with them at the Libutty on New Years Eve.

If Scottswan or Jackash wins the lottery tomorrow do you think they should change their name to Mod-rich?

Can’t think of anything else to say, so that’s it!

    Mr Gullible.

Great thread Mr Gullible and well researched on the whole - would just pull you up on one detail; Jamie Rednap is actually Harry's father, not the other way around, and he is married to Harry Belafonte (not Beyonce - easy mistake to make as their names sound so similar).

As for the name; as all the other proper team names were taken by the thousands of other London clubs, the owners just threw an open can of alphabet spaghetti up in the air and Totiiingghathem Hooefotsspjufturr was what was spelt out by the contents when they hit the floor. They simplified it to Tottenum Hotspurs so it would fit on their letterheads.

    Hope that's cleared things up.

No worries Mr G - if you need any help with your threads let me know; for example, I know that our next opponents after Tottenum (NooCastle) were invented by Kevin Keegurn and got their name because they started playing their matches in a new castle because their architect drew up the wrong plans - he thought they asked for a 'Stay Deum' which is Latin for 'can you build us a new castle mr architect person'. Crazy but true!

I think the pair of you are bonkers but long may it continue. Brilliant thread and comments, can't wait for the Noocastle one.

A lot of things in our corner . The Spurs have 2 points from 15 there last 5 League games ( granted they played good teams ) . Out shot them last game , had twice as many corners , more possession . Besides Caulker , players who didn't start last time , Rangel , Britton , Graham & Sig . We're the away warriors of late . Like our chances . Key battle " Allen vs Mod-rich ", if Allen can frustrate him again will be gettin something from the game IMO

Totten lamb Hot Spur actually play in North London - I think it is near Watford, which some people would say is in North East England. I think they are Geordies because Gazza used to play for them - in fact I think he still does.

Some of their best players include Mike Engerland, Partin Metres, Martin Shivers, Allen Clive, Fat Jennings, Dai McKay (or was it McPie) and Bald Archie. Bobby Charlton used to play for them when he was not playing for Man U under the assumed name of Ralph Coates.

They have won many honours over the years including "the team that plays the most attractive football but wins nothing cup". Nevertheless a great club who will give the mighty Swans a real test on Sunday.

My heart says 1-1, my head says 4-0 with a Gazza hatrick thrown in for good measure. Good old Gazza - we all love 'im.

Well done Mr G! <applause> Thank god we can't do joint threads anymore. Not sure what our cockney friends would have made of this. Lol. But the Stag & Dalek sounds like my kind of place. <laugh>

2-0 to Spurs for me but who can predict anything with any degree of accuracy these days? If we lose I hope we go out and at least give them a game.

still in the top half even though we did not play so thats good news, i feel we can get a result at spurs tomorrow with at least a draw, the bigger the team the better we perform and i cant see no reason that we cant come away with something.......i wonder if buck will take the opportunity to check out the managers office incase he does go to spurs....
