Tottenham are closing in on a move to bring French No 1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to White Hart Lane next season.

Spurs hope to tie up a move for the Lyon keeper for around £10million and see him as a long-term replacement for Brad Friedel.

Friedel will be 41 in May and nearering the end of his career and with Heurelho Gomes is desperate to leave the North London club Spurs are keen to move for Lloris.

Lyon will be reluctant to let Lloris go but they would find it difficult to resist a five-figure offer.

Lloris is the established first choice for France and will line up against England at Euro 2012.

At 25-years-old he is regarded as the most talented goalkeeper France have produced since Fabien Barthez.

Lloris has been the kingpin of France’s impressive qualification for the Euro finals and has been in eye-catching for his club this season.

I thought he was quite a lot older than that, to be honest.
Anyone seen enough of him to say whether this would be good value or not?
It's the Mail, so it's probably crap anyway, but we do need to bring someone in.

Who plays in goal is the least of our concerns atm. Although I can't believe a keeper of Friedel's experience does not have a hat.

was just about to write the same thing. even at 41 and has 1 season left, friedel is still a top keeper. we need big name players like Lloris, but in other areas for the pitch as an urgent priority.

If it happens though, it's a nice addition.

Assuming we move on Gomes for £5-7m, it's a smart move - Lloris is experienced, yet is at an age where he can remain our first-choice keeper for six or seven years. He's also captain of the French team, which means his communication is good - which is needed.

I assume this was c+p'd from the original article, they've edited it now to "seven-figure offer" which is still wrong! <laugh>

Not sure about Lloris, I've not seen Lyon play for yonks but I've already committed myself to Dona's Al-Habshi bandwagon.

    Benny too!

Besides, he doesn't need to recite a soliloquy, just shout and point at random intervals.

id still have Al Habsi all day long.....a ripe age of 32 for a keeper..experienced in the PL..and would possibly cost less...good all round keeper who often pulls of worldies and is not shy to command his defence.

A new top goalkeeper would be a nice addition with Brad nearing the end, no doubt we`ll dither and dally trying to get him on the cheap and end up losing out and signing someone like Kirkland instead.
