    Tootenham V Watford
    Wednesday 26th September 2018 20.00
    EFL Cup - Third Round

A very interesting Caribou o_O <Yorkies lost track of who sponsored this tournament 20 years ago> game upcoming. After our steamrolling of Spurs in the second half on the 2nd September, Tottenham will not be relishing a further away game at Wimbledon reserves pitch in MK.

    upload_2018-9-25_10-47-15.png

Watford meanwhile will be fielding a team made up of players itching to confirm their places in the first team. If we manage to maintain the momentum of recent matches a win is a real possibility here.

Can Success finally make a success of the opportunities with the Hornets? Will Chalobah be fit enough for a full game? Can the mighty Gomes thrill us all and keep a clean sheet?

Pochettino has often preferred to forget about the domestic cups in favour of Spurs’ Premier League and European ambitions, and this season is unlikely to be any different. All of this might point to a great evening somewhere in Buckinghamshire

    Team news

Gerard Deulofeu and Tom Cleverley are still out injured and look to be unavailable for this game as well. Troy Deeney is out after carrying a few broken toes and incurring ankle ligament damage from the game against Fulham and looks to be rested.

    Possible team?

4-2-2-2 < Yorkie confused by all these new fangled formations>

    Heurelho Gomes (GK)
He should start in place of Ben Foster this game and deserves a second start this season
    Daryl Janmaat (RB)
    Adrian Mariappa (CB)
Mariappa could start in place of Craig Cathcart in order to provide the Northern Irishman with some rest.
    Christian Kabasele (CB)
    Jose Holebas (LB)
    Abdoulaye Doucoure (RCM)
    Nathaniel Chalobah (LCM)
Chalobah is yet to make a start under Javi Gracia this season and could be deployed alongside Doucoure. He is reported to be fit for a whole game
    Kiko Femenia (RAM)
Femenia looked bright after coming on for Hughes in the game against Fulham.
    Roberto Pereyra (LAM)
    Isaac Success (RF)
Success showed energy and urgency after coming on against Fulham. He may be given a chance to prove himself over an extended period
    Andre Gray (LF)
Gray will be looking to further cement himself in the team

    Possible Tottenham XI:
    Gazzaniga;
    Aurier, Foyth, Sanchez, Walker-Peters;
    Wanyama, Winks, Amos;
    Lamela, Llorente, N’Koudou

    The Odds?

    upload_2018-9-25_10-56-27.png

    Yorkie’s prediction

Spurs 2 Watford 2 Watford to shade it on penalties….<whistle>

Good luck to the Golden Boys and enjoy the game all, I doubt if they will show it on my flight to California, must have a word with BA about their priorities, especially as they knew I was on the flight. <laugh>

Better hope it doesn't go to penalties then...

I remember going to Liverpool for our League Cup semi final in 2005 and there were mass roadworks on the M62.

Even on the way back from Reading the M25 and M1 was partly closed.

FYI there is no extra time in the League Cup anymore, it will go straight to penalties if its all square after 90 minutes.

This cup has little going for it, but wouldn't mind winning it just the same. It often seems a shame for reserve teams to play through the rounds only for the first team to appear for the final.

It's why the big teams dominate because generally they have the best reserves ..

I mean if we play the team that started at Reading tomorrow we'd probably lose against Spurs reserves.

    -------------------Gomez.
    Navarro - Mapps - Prodl - Masina
Femina - Wilmot - Chabola - Swedish Ken
    --------------Grey---------Success

I reckon that'll be our line up but think Prodl might not make the line up, think he might be injured so Navarro CB and Janmatt RB maybe....

Fair to say Spurs have got a much stronger side out than we have ..

Only change from Reading team is Cathcart for Prodl.

Good guess. But it's Cathcart not prodl, and Quina not Gray. 4-5-1.

    Which makes me think...
IF IF IF we keep all our young recruits, then in 5 years we could have a first 11 of (see current age)..
    Dahlberg (19)
    Masina (24) Wilmot (18) Kabasele (27) Navarro (23)
    Hughes (23) Chalobah (23) Doucoure (25) Delofeu (24)
    Pedro (18) Stuparevic (18)

    + cucho Hernandez (19) Quina (19) and a raft of others ( e.g. Success 22,Seama 24, Penaranda 21).
    Kabasele as captain.

If the reports of these youngsters are to be believed - then we really are going places!
