So we need a thread to discuss the build up to the game, tricky to predict the line up as a busy week in the transfer market, but I expect us to stick with 4-2-3-1

I hope to see Sig or Dembele alongside Sandro, as the two DM's against West Brom, was far too negative for a home game.

I seen some fans say "a draw or loss is unthinkable" if this happens, whats the general reaction going to be against AVB?

Are we going to see more then one Debut? Adebayor must be a dead cert to start after working on his fitness and unless VDV is sold at the last minute, I assume he will play behind the striker.

Gomes & Kaboul are the only two Injuries in the squad & Kaboul has a 50% chance of being back for the game.

    Opposition:

Norwich aren't the same team from last year, like ourselves they lost a manager (in different circumstances) which got the best out of their players and have gone for the safe option in Chris Hughton, our former assistant manager, yet they seem to have lost that spark and energy that caused us real problems last year at the lane.

I checked online for their injury news and Ward & Whittaker (their summer signing from rangers) could be fit as they have both missed the season so far.

What are fans expecting from Norwich?

    Their previous line up was:

Ha yes, but I wouldn't expect much change for the Norwich game, maybe new signings on the bench, also I hope Sig is given a chance ahead of any new arrivals.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dembele in place of Livermore - and hope to see Dawson in place of Gallas.

I hope Caulker is given a chance but never mentioned that as saw he was playing the under 21 game, which seems a shame as last season he was proving himself to be a premier league centre back and now he finds himself playing under 21 games and behind Gallas.

Vertonghen needs someone experienced beside him as he beds in, which is the only reason I didn't suggest Verts & Caulker.

Gallas may have experience but he makes glaring individual errors, can't deal with the ball over the top and is on the decline, I can't see him benefiting Verts in any way, but AVB has decided thats the case so we're stuck with him for now!

I actually think Gallas is a decent partner for Verts, not 1st choice, but they are suited to each other.

Fair enough. I'll just keep my dislike of Gallas to myself!

I think Dembele has a chance of starting this weekend, any other signings we make between now and then I should think are very unlikely to start, given they would have had a maximum of 1 day of training with the squad. This said with Lloris in mind in particular. I have a horrible feeling Rafa will be gone in the next couple of days, it sounds like Hamburg have some money to spend and I can't see Levy turning down a good offer for an injury prone, nearly 30 year old.

    Team:

    Friedel
    Walker
    Kaboul (if fit) / Gallas
    Vertonghen
    Benny
    Lennon
    Sandro
    Mousa
    Bale
    Sig
    Ade

As with last seasons fixture at the lane I would say a lot will depend on which Norwich team turns up on Saturday. Both teams have been slow to get out of the blocks this season so I have predicted 1-1.

Not taking the result in to account from our last meeting, I really enjoyed our game and hope for a similar type of game this weekend.

Good luck for the season after 5pm Saturday <ok>

Slow to get out of the blocks Thai? Hmmm! We VERY often have close matches against WBA if you look at the history and we lost to a penalty the first match. We have a new coach so I'd say we've made a fairly mid speed start. I never want to be runaway leaders early on because whoever does that normally gets caught and overtaken so I'm fairly satisfied with what we've done so far.

BUT if we don't beat you on Saturday we are in for a torrid time so I'll be happy with a 2-0 to Spurs. Out team's in transition so this is your best chance of again getting something at WHL. I'd play all our new signings straight away.

EXCELLENT introduction to the thread Boss.....excellent.

I have heard that a lot about Spurs in the last 25 years. BBC MOTD used to use it all the time <laugh>

    I'm going for:

    Lloris,

    Walker, Gallas, Verts, BAE

    Sandro, Moutinho

    Willian, Dembele, Bale

    Remy

    <laugh>

Ok in seriousness, I expect it to be pretty much the same line up as the WBA game with Dembele coming in for Livermore/ Sandro. I was really peeved that we played 2 DM's at home and I'm sorry, if AVB opts for the same formation again then I seriously will end up disliking the guy. He's supposed to be a more attack-minded coach than Redknapp and yet thus far, I've failed to see anything he offers over Harry in that department... Or in any department for the matter.

Back to the game, I'm expecting a win. For one, we need revenge on Norwich for playing us off the park last season at WHL and secondly, we just need to f*cking win! This is a must win for us and must win for AVB in my opinion, many Spurs fans around me at the game (admittedly I was far from impressed too) last Saturday were already getting disgruntled with his decisions (2 DM's, not bringing Ade on sooner, bringing Jenas on!!! <yikes>) and quite frankly a win is a must in order to settle the nerves.

Close game, Norwich will come out battling but I'm going for 3-1 Spurs - providing we play just ONE DM!!!

    :D

True though isn't it. Before I left the UK I watched virtually all the football I could on TV (when not at games) and I do recall just about every august when doing their season previews that old chustnut of a line would come out when talking about Spurs, but only ever about Spurs <laugh>.

That being the case you have not done too badly over the last 3 decades considering <ok>

Yes,I suppose you're right really,we never seem to have a settled team or coach for that matter. Harry brought us on well but he has too much of the Delboy Trotter in him for me. But like you we have a new coach who wasn't given enough tie at Chelsea so let's just see. How are things at Ipswich these days?

Just the way we like it <laugh>

Paul Jewell and the board can't spot a decent player, can't attract decent players and pay over the top for has-beens with a poor attitude (Bullard for example) <ok>

The fans on here are moaning most weeks about the way the club is run (with good reason I hasten to add), Jewell should be sacked is a frequent topic, Glegg (the owner) should resign etc.

It makes our defeats a little easier to accept when we think how them poor sods are suffering <laugh>

I wish we could feel the same about Arsenal and Chelsea. The luckiest bleeders on the planet with now THREE penalties,an offside and a keeper's error in three matches. I'll laugh when their luck runs out. Cheers Thai.
