Whats your thoughts on this lads? Personally think he would be a great signing, would add pace and is a left winger like we have been crying out for for ages. Him and McClean battling for that position would certainly add strength in depth and he can also grab a few goals. a big yes from me and Kranjcar has also been made available, I would take them both, they would offer so much to our side. Just a reminder of how good this lad is
He was a class act at Everton but hasn't had the chances at Spurs (he's not alone there!) - would be a good acquisition - I would rather have a CB and CF though
I agree he wouldb a good addition but hes on 68 grand a week at Spurs, well documented as a big thing was made down here on Merseyside about him leaving Everton for ONLY a five grand increase on his EFC wages
SP.....Boss, I want a transfer. HR.....No problem Steven, I have spoken to the chairman. You can leave for £5m. So if a bid comes in for £7m you are free to leave as soon as the £10m is in the bank
Not too bothered about him tbh. It's a lot of money for someone who's coming to the end of his career (he's 30 in a couple of months), considering pace is / was a big part of his game. Also, he hasn't played much recently so will take some time to get up to speed. Factor in the wages he would want and I'd be a bit miffed if we paid £5m for him tbh...
I think he would be awesome for us, I have alway's rated him. I was there when we were stuffed 7-1, his was one of the best performance's I have ever seen against us.
He was also brilliant in a home game against us either last yr or the yr before 2-0 defeat I think. A definate yes from me.
I think he could be good signing, We could do with his experience. Okay he is getting to the end of his career although he still has a few seasons in him. Maybe we could get him to run himself into the ground for 60/70 minutes and then bring McClean on to bring on a fresh set of legs and gain the experience he needs. Plus I think that would give McClean a good role model to learn from.
We need a striker before another midfielder, yes I like Pienaar, always have but if we have any cash get a better striker in first please.
By my comments I didn't mean he should be a priority signing we do need a recognised goal scorer first but it would be good if we could get him as well. If not we'll just have to struggle on with that we have.
We dont need another midfielder, we had 7 on the pitch yesterday out of 11 players. So take out the goalkeeper and the 1 loan striker and it leaves 7 of the 9 sunderland (not loan) outfield players as midfielders. High wages on this guy makes no sense UNLESS Sess leaves in Jan, so i hope we dont tie up high wages on another midfielder, rather have that expensive experience up front!
He's a good player but spurs would be taking the pi** asking for 5m when they only paid 3m. He's right footed too so not a proper left wingers in my eyes. Not as good as sessesgnon either who id like to start on the left if we bring a striker in.
A half decent player who would provide competition for the LW spot but, 5 mil is way too much for a 30 year old who hasn't exactly been great at Spurs when he has played. Another thing if we did bid 5 mil Spurs would want more it's just the way they do things there.
I don't consider him as someone who will give us great width tbh. He class, but I think he's more effective in a central role. I'd like Jarvis or Hoillet or Matt Phillips for the wings.
A very good player at Everton, but that was then, we do need a left winger, but if cash is limited, would rather have the money available to be spent on a proven striker.
