Not counting my chickens or anything but Tottenham have a fair few players who'll have only been back for a week or so before the big kick off this year. By my reckoning the following will have all just returned from the World Cup, having made the Final or 3rd place playoff, to go on holiday for 2/3 weeks and had minimal preparation time by the time the 11th rolls around in just under 4 weeks time: Kane Alli Dier Rose Trippier Lloris Vertonghen Alderwield Dembele Son - who will be away with the South Korean national team at the Asia games Now don't get me wrong they still have some class players outside that list of 10 like Sanchez, Wanyama, Eriksen, Lamela and a few other decent players like Winks, Sissoko, Davies etc. but still the majority of those who will have just returned are pretty much automatic starters IMO and will be just back from an exerting world cup and be behind on their training schedules where as our entire squad will have been training for about 6 weeks together. Add an injury or two to those in preseason currently for them and they could be struggling early doors this year. Still think we'll lose but think we may have a chance of sneaking a point from them. Thoughts?
It's undoubtedly a good time to play them... Could do with Lloris thinking he's Maradonna again though.
Thoughts? My thoughts are we'll get spanked all the same. Vastly superior squad than ours. But "it's a fanny owld game, Saint".
Definitely best possible time to get them. I always think it's good to get some games with the best teams in early.
He played for them all tournament when he was with us. He shouldn't have taken that backwards step in his career.
