Given how well he has done recently, perhaps Emerson on the left, give Perisic a rest. So

    Forster

    Romero Lenglet Davies

    Porro Hojbjerg Sarr Emerson

    Kulusevski Kane Richarlison

Romero, Dier, Emerson, Perisic, Kulusevski and Son would all deserve to be benched but we only realistically have viable replacements in the XI for Emerson, Kulusevski and Son at present.

Skipp will end up being dropped despite a fine performance midweek and we know that Conte (who’ll still pick the team) seemingly forbids dropping Son, no matter how awful he’s been.

    I’d like to see:

    Forster
    Romero, Lenglet, Davies
    Porro, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Sarr, Perisic
    Kane, Danjuma

    But that just isn’t happening.

Does Emerson deserve to be benched - on current form. Thought he's been doing well recently.

    Forster
    Romero Dier Lenglet
    Porro Sarr Hojbjerg Davies
    Kulu Kane Danjuma

Son needs to sit for a while, Perisic needs a rest and has been mixed anyway, I just have a good feeling about Davies at LWB. Better than any of the other alternate options anyway.

Harsh on Skipp but I'd agree with this - Hojbjerg has generally been very good this season so doesn't really deserve to lose his place. Of the two, Sarr looked a step above so he keeps his. Some have suggested we try 3 in the middle which is madness imo as starting all 3 of them means we're one injury away from being totally screwed.

Son 100% needs a spell out of the team now. It is frankly unacceptable that he still gets picked. Although I think Richarlison would get the nod over Danjuma if that is the case. If it isn't, that's pretty damning that a record signing can't get in the team ahead of someone here on a 5 month loan.

I also think Romero could use a spell out of the team. He's been poor since the WC, not sure if it is hangover or simply physical and mental exhaustion from the campaign but he's been all over the place recently and is a bit of a liability. Sanchez and Tanganga have mistakes in them but the former put in a really good game against PNE and was of course promptly dropped. Give him another crack at it against Spam. They've got pace down that flank in Benrahma and Fornals - I think Sanchez could be an asset.

Davies at LWB is well overdue. Sess is injured (and not a footballer), Perisic has been abysmal for a while now. Give it a try.

    Forster
    Sanchez Dier Lenglet
    Porro Hojbjerg Sarr Davies
    Kulu Kane Richarlison

Emerson? He was one of three outfield players who played well, for me.

Gave Leao the freedom of the city down his flank.

I thought Leao had very little impact, apart from some chronic diving.

Thought he was Milan’s best player, along with Hernandez, they had full reign down our flank. Romero was equally as bad as Emerson though, in fact worse.
