Tuesday's game will be the 41st meeting between the two clubs, who were rivals in both the Southern & Western Leagues in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. It's been a while since we last played the Wiltshire club, as the last meeting was 12 years ago in a friendly which Spurs won 3-1 with goals from Steffen Iversen, Yannick Kamanan and John Piercy. Spurs usually take a large squad to these types of games, with players getting 45 minutes or so playing time, so we should expect to see at least two complete Spurs teams for the match. Swindon, who already had former Spurs players Troy Archibald-Henville and Jack Barthram in their ranks have recently added three players on loan - Grant Hall, Massimo Luongo & Alex Pritchard - and added Nathan Byrne on a permanent transfer. please log in to view this image Tottenham Hotspur v Swindon Town Match Records 1890 - 2013
Should be an interesting one. I'm sure there'll be a fair number of Spurs fans keeping one eye on Swindon this season.
There is talk of it being available online. But Swindon have quite understandably asked that this not be made public until the last minute, as they don't want ticket sales to be affected.
Good news is that Younes Kaboul will be fit for the Swindon game. Sandro isn't far behind and should make the squad for the Asia Trophy matches in Hong Kong.
I am looking forward to the trip down the M4 tomorrow for this game. Great weather for watching football although not so great for the players. In addition to the number of current and ex Spurs players who will be in the Swindon side, they may well be a new manager, also moving from WHL. Names being mentioned are Tim Sherwood, who is big buddies with the Swindon director Lee Power, Les Ferdinand who was interviewed for this job when it became vacant before and Chris Ramsey our reserve coach who used to play for Swindon. Yesterday, Sherwood was the 3/1 favourite for the job with Les at 12/1. Today Les is the 5/6 favourite and Tim has moved to 6/1.
So Les it is then! I assumed they were going to do it together? Will we miss Les, in terms of coaching ability?
At 7pm last night, it was just over 30°C in my garden, where I can almost see the County Ground. I pity anyone who has to run around in that sort of heat. Hopefully the stands will create some shade.
Interesting SC, how do the club feel I wonder about possibly losing TS or CR, I'm not sure LF would be felt as too much of a loss, I wouldn't miss Sherwood either tbh for reasons previously discussed, but it would leave a hole in the 'Transfer Committee'.
does anyone know if there's any tickets left? I've not been able to book because of a "commitment" that's not been 100%, so I might still be able to go last minute.
When I bought my ticket, I asked about the away fans and was told they'd be in their normal corner of the Arkells stand. I also raised a smile when I asked about tickets for late-comers. That sort of smile that's really saying "Are you ****ing joking?" This was two weeks ago and I understand things can change.
We were given an initial 600 tickets which are in the Ancells stand. We had the option to take up to 3000 tickets in total, so as we are now selling for the Stratton Bank end, then we are taking between 600 and 3000 fans tonight.
Makes sense. To those of you now sitting(? - no one sits down) in the away end, bring strong sunglasses or a cap. The sun will be directly in your eyes at that time of night. There is no roof.
You are in the Arkells stand, according to your ticket. *shhhhhhhhhh* no singing please log in to view this image
