I quote from the Sunday Times report of the game " their (Spurs) dearth of creativity played to Swansea's brilliantly executed game plan"
I think people are being blinded by Sanchez potential because in reality he is crap right now and a liability. I don't care how many times he touched the ball, its what he does with it that counts. What he does most is lose the ball and concede possession. He passes the ball away more than any other Swansea player and lost the ball at his feet when trying to stupidly the ball. He plays heads down football, never looking up for a pass. This is not what we expect from a premier league starter. He is a youth player at best, Britton is better, Fer is better, even Routledge is better, Ki will be better and I reckon the missing Messa is better too, which means he is being started at the cost of those players and he is being trained at the cost of the team which is absolute bullshit as far as I'm concerned. Better players are being sacrificed to accommodate him. In the premier league it is vital to pick your best players and Sanchez is not. Abraham may be improving but for the third game out of five he didn't manage to get a single shot on goal, some striker. Even Jodi Shekter made the keeper move. What we've done this summer is showing on the pitch. We sold all the guts and drive we had and replaced it with what? no creativity, no guile, no flair and a couple of kids learning how to play football. We are seeing the results which are, very few chances and game after game of not even getting a shot on goal. We can talk all we want about Sanchez and how he's improved from being utter dross to total crap in the space of two games but we cant get away from the fact that we are impotent and we're not even picking our best team to try to improve, but we are training up a couple of kids who's combined efforts amount being of absolutely no benefit to the team at all.
I'd definately start the both of them. Hopefully Bony can get a good 60-65mins under his belt. Likewise with Sanchez.
Dai has become the in-house wum. Perhaps he's john hughes, in disguise. I didn't watch the game, or hear any commentary, so I am basing my observations on MOTD, and written media coverage. The first thing is that we rode our luck, and that's O.K., since luck isn't always on our side. On another day, Spurs would have had two penalties. That they didn't get one for the handball against Olsson is quite surprising. Spurs' players left their shooting boots at home, for which I am very grateful. Swans' defence was magnificent. Perhaps watching 'Zulu' is now part of pre match build up.
Thinking of the season overall I thought the best we could do was keep the score down and hope we could get something on the break. Man U had too many good attacking players to take them on. Mind I hope that we are in a better position at the end of the season and not having to rely on goal difference.
Agree. In hindsight given the scoreline, it would have been a better decision to keep VDH on. However, had we only lost 1-0, some might have questioned why Clement didn't use his attacking options off the bench? Defensively, we are in a far better position this season with Clement in charge (despite the obvious weaknesses at the back), going forward is the big worry.
A classic Clement away point . Three super games from Fernandez in a row now . Fab was as magnificent . VDH should have scored ' along with a half dozen Spurs players ...but they didnt
