please log in to view this image Sunderland v. Tottenham Hotspur 13 Sep 13:30 - Stadium of Light We visit the Mackems this Sunday and both teams are still looking for their first win of the league campaign. Our hosts did manage to beat Exeter in the League Cup, though. Their last home league game also resulted in a respectable draw against Swansea. Craig Pawson oversaw a 2-2 draw in the same fixture last season and he's the main official again for this one. Early goals from Nacer Chadli and Adam Johnson opened up the game, with both scoring in the first five minutes. It settled down into an impressive display from Spurs for most of the rest of the game after that. Eriksen put the side ahead, before a late Capoue balls up gave the hosts a chance to nick a draw. That's exactly what they did too, as Harry Kane deflected a free-kick into his own net. http://www.footytube.com/video/sunderland-2-2-tottenham-hotspur-296655 Lineups for the last league game: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Bentaleb; Dembele, Mason, Chadli; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Alli, Pritchard, Carroll, Lamela. Pantilimon; Jones, O'Shea, Kaboul, van Aanholt; M'Vila, Cattermole, Rodwell, Lens, Graham, Defoe. Subs: Larsson, Toivonen, Coates, Mannone, Fletcher, Watmore, Gooch. N'Jie and Son should be fit and ready for this one. Will they be involved? With the Europa League game against Qarabag coming up on Thursday, it would be nice to give them some time now and see if they're up to a start. Not sure if the manager will see it that way, though.
Would like to see Alli and Pritchard start tbh. Son and Clint to come on as subs if fit. NEED to win this one. Relegation 6-pointer
So does Yedlin technically count for the "Played for both" section, given he won't have played a second for Sunderland until their match with Bournemouth on the 19th at the earliest?
Wasn't last year's match one of those classic stats games where Sunderland had one shot on target and scored 2? .... this could happen only against Spurs!
Yep. We hit the woodwork more times than they hit the target. Both of their goals went in off Spurs players, too. Spursy.
Thanks for the thread, PNP. There’s been less anger about a disappointing start than I would have expected. We need to win this one or that will change. I have to say I’m glad Qarabag is coming up first. It means the Europa campaign will have nowhere to go but up. I’ll bet Eriksen won’t start. I hope he comes on as a sub. I agree completely about Son and Clinton. I want them to come on as subs so they can start in Azerbaijan. We can’t be hauling Kane, in particular, to Azerbaijan and back. We’ve just got to go with a second 11 and hope for the best. It would be a really bad move to play anyone in the Europa who we plan to start next week.
Match thread is up lads, you're welcome to pop by. http://www.not606.com/threads/sunderland-afc-vs-tottenham-hotspur.310833/ Safe round trip for anybody coming up.
Anyone know if we've sold out the away allocation for this? Me and my mates weren't able to get tickets...
There were certainly some left a couple of days ago, so it may be worth contacting our ticket office. If not, there's always some going spare outside the away turnstiles at the ground if you get there early enough. Hope you make it, I'm travelling up today and staying in Newcastle for the weekend.
Bingo. How are you getting to the sol? Driving? Check the road closures and leave yourself plenty of time, the usual advice in these circumstances. It's a joke that Northumbria's finest allow the this game to go ahead again. It affects attendance givex that so many fans come from that way. It stretches their ability to police both events.
