Whether you’d say world class or just below, I’d say the likes of Berbatov, van der Vaart, Eriksen and Alderweirled all joined and were immediately brilliant. I think both Eriksen and Alderweired won Spurs POTY in their debut seasons and Berbatov won it in his second season if my memory’s correct.

Van Der Vaart was a big name pre Spurs and Eriksen & Toby were well known but the Klinsmann signing probably was the last signing that was truly world class and made people think wow what a signing.
