Nowt wrong with criticising our players here in the forum. My God, I have had my moments of moaning about some of them over the years.

But I don’t personally see a need to criticise Werner at present. No, he’s not the best LW but he’s the best backup LW we have at present and I can see some positives to what he does on the pitch - at times!

I think there's a big difference between trashing a player in public/on their social media vs online on a forum. The former should never happen but the latter is all game and part of discussion and analysis.

I didn't say to start. But there are no other senior forwards at all and our best youngsters are out on loan. So it seems unlikely to me that he is weakening the squad

Positive criticism is helpful but saying stuff like he should never play again is unhelpful in every way.

But the paucity of his game is clearly detectable to the human eye, so either your theory is wrong or Werner is well outside the Top 2000...<laugh>
(I'd go for the latter as I tend to support your theory!:emoticon-0148-yes:)

There is a context here and it's one of continuous targeting of players in the team this then can feed into or from social media platforms. We are not in an isolated bubble.
To push back against this is part of the debate. It's not going away, but a balance needs to be struck.
The secret of the Spurs board success is open polite debate. We will lose posters if we polarise in any one direction , so in my view this debate is healthy because it shows the diversity of our posters

Utd have successfully appealed Fernandes’ red card. Probably fair,as it should have been a yellow.
He still can’t play the second half v Spurs

From what I read on RedCafe yesterday, him getting his ban overturned is bad news for Utd.

For me at least, what tipped it into a straight red was Fernandes adjusting his foot mid-tackle which meant malice aforethought

If he kept his leg straight he could claim he went in harder than he intended, but shifting his foot made it a deliberate attempt to kneecap Madders

At the match I absolutely agree. I find it bizarre when fans get on the back of a player on match day or on social media.
It counter productive but more importantly (for me) cruel. The treatment of Sanchez 18 months ago was shameful IMHO.
But criticising a player on a fan forum is not the same unless you are being racist/personally abusive imo

Completely agree but some of the posts were abusive.

Spurs best youngster is Mikey Moore, he could have started. Lankshear is fit now so there’s two different options.

It's a ridiculous and rather quick decision to overturn Fernandes' red card.
It's a very poor tackle. He slips, then sticks out his boot with his studs up and high.
It's pure luck that it wasn't damaging to Maddison and it's not a clear and obvious error to give a red.

Was going to say the same. It was clearly a 2nd movement that could never have taken the ball.
It's still up for debate regards the intent, but I think the refs first instinct was ok.
Probably the right outcome for the game, although as DH said, I think there are quite a few Utd fans who'd have been quite happy for the appeal to have been rejected! <laugh>

I remember seeing a lot worse said about Ndombele tbh. The Werner ‘abuse’ is only a thing on here because of certain posters

    Honestly,

It was more Madissons reaction to it than it being particularly dangerous. There was like zero power and the studs that fernandes put into maddisons knee was more his shin and the side of his foot from what i saw. He just wants to take him out which is a definitely yellow. I'd be fuming if i was the manager
