How would you like to line up for this one and how do you think we actually will line up?
98th minute Winks thunderbolt from 70 yards out to win it. He runs to the Leicester supporters and lifts his shirt to reveal a message underneath: "Up yours DH" Brace yourselves.
If you hurry, you'll get there just in time for his MOTM award presentation. You could even interview him.
Agreed. Back five speaks for itself. Beyond that, we can predict Son and Solanke with confidence. But the remaining 4 spots and formation? Haven't a clue. I'm not a fan of shoe-horning Maddison into the side as we don't have the midfielders to control a game if we play a 4-2-3-1. I'd much prefer a 4-3-3 and just let Bergvall get on with it. Gigi Porro Romero VDV Udogie (if fit) Sarr Bergvall Bentancur Johnson Solanke Son
I agree that we should just get on with Bergvall to acclimatise him as quickly as possible. After all, he’s not going to do any worst than our regular MFs and he can only improve with regular game time. Looking forward to finally seeing spurs play again but Leicester away, on their first game back in the PL, won’t be an easy task. Especially if Winks play!
I'd be surprised if Udogie started this, lengthy injury and just 45 mins of pre-season behind him feels like it'd be risky throwing him in from the start. I've loved watching Bergvall so far but reading a few things it sounds like he's not quite ready for 90 minutes of Ange's tactics so I'd expect to see him coming off the bench most games for the first couple months, with a possible start in the League Cup/ Europa. I reckon we'll see something like: Vicario Porro, Romero, Dragusin, van de Ven Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison Kulu, Solanke, Son
To the surprise of nobody, the Grauniad's preview of our season sounds like it was written by r/soccer...
I think Ange has said everyone has been training now for at least a week. I’d be surprised if we don’t go Vic Porro Romero VdV Udogie Sarr Bentancur Maddison Kulu Solanke Son I know he’s had a good preseason but I’m still not sure about Kulu. Especially on the wing. Expecting to see Johnson, Gray, Bergvall off the bench. Mikey Moore in the match day squad? Wouldn’t be surprised, rumours today that we’re not even giving Solomon a squad number haha
Spurs have suspended Biss for the opening game because of the laughing gas incident according to Ange. So it’ll surely be Bentancur and we might get to see Archie Gray at some point too.
Bissouma has been internally suspended for Monday's game. Ange has said: "He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him but behaviour is crucial”.
He's an enigma that's for sure. I think his ability and quality is almost world class but his decision making definitely isn't (often get a little annoyed when he seems to take an extra touch) and his inconsistency makes him a frustrating figure. But just based on how pre-season went I think he'll get the nod over Johnson, unless Ange puts him centrally over Sarr(?)
I'm pleased that the club has dealt with it quickly and decisively. If it was Liverpool, the matchday squad would walk out on Monday night wearing commemorative t-shirts.
And not for the first time. Ange is more forgiving than I took him for. I'm convinced there's a decent player in there, but I'm not sure he's worth the trouble. After last years sendings off and injury troubles, I would have expected him to work extra hard to prove himself. This may be minor in some eyes, but it reflects an attitude and lack of discipline.
TBH, seeing a few players in his role popping into the rumour mill not only this summer but during the back end of last season does make me wonder
