please log in to view this image Wednesday 13th January 8pm White Hart Lane Premier League Wasn't sure if this was necessary, but here it is. All the same as before, basically. We drew again and go again. Didn't appear to pick up any new injury problems and Pochettino has said that Dembele's back. No new signings for either club and no suspensions, either. Lineups for the last league game: Spurs: Lloris: Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Carroll; Eriksen, Alli, Lamela; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Bentaleb, Onomah, Chadli, Son. League form: DLWWWD. Leicester: Schmeichel; Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs; Mahrez, Drinkwater, Kante, Albrighton; Ulloa, Vardy. Subs: Schwarzer, De Laet, Wasilewski, Inler, King, Dyer, Okazaki. League form: WWWLDD. Referee: Lee Mason. Who deserves to retain their place and who should make way for the regulars? If Dembele comes back into the starting XI, should Dier make way and have a rest? Should Eriksen play in this one or has his form dipped enough to warrant leaving him out again?
I'll get the ball rolling, shall I? Leicester are a defensively-minded counter-attacking team with a penchant towards relentless attacking. Discuss.
I thought that last season every team in the PL beat up on each other for Chelsea to win the league. This season,it's happening again.but this team they are doing Arsenal a favour. If,I say If,we beat Leicester,we will be doing the romanys a favour..........and if Man City lose........doesn't it make you want to spit nails after we dropped those silly points at home?
"Leicester are a defensively-minded counter-attacking team with a penchant towards relentless attacking. Discuss." No they're not.
The new breed of top 4 opponents meet for what will be the 78th out of 79 times this season. I'm expecting a number of changes from both sides. Lloris Walker, Toby, Jan, Davies Dier, Dembele Lamela, Eriksen, Alli* Kane Vorm, Tripps, Rose, Bentaleb, Carroll, Chadli, Son *Likely to switch positions with Eriksen and Dembele throughout the game. Gonna be a tough one playing against the all out attacking counter-attacking side, I'd like for Vardy to actually play and have a battle of England strikers for all to see which should be enjoyable (providing Kane comes out on top). COYS!
Before it clicked to me as to what you were doing, I was beginning to think you had a split personality
Doubt Dembele will start-it's not the Poch way to bring a player straight back in. Usual back five Dier, Alli Lamela, Eriksen , Son Kane
Eriksen has been lacklustre for weeks now and Carroll appears to be flavour of the month at the moment. I agree about Dembele though, so I'd expect/like to see: Dier Tom Lamela Alli Son Kane I think that '3' has all the ingredients to be utterly deadly and is well worth a try given the deluge of fixtures coming up.
Speaking of Carroll, what do Spurs fans think of the lad? Leicester seem to have played a lot of games against him in recent years and he's never struck me as being particularly good. Neat and tidy, but you'd expect a player like him to have more of an impact on games. He seems to be a bit like our Andy King. Very quiet, gets about his job efficiently but rarely seems to impact on a game.
If I'm honest he's not progressed as much as I'd hoped since he made his debut about 5 or 6 years ago. He's always been a very neat and tidy player but he doesn't control games like a player with his attributes should. I think he'll always be a squad player if he stays with us, I can never see him becoming one of the first names on the team sheet but he's not done bad in his recent starts, although with Dembele back now I reckon his chances will be limited again to cup appearances or minutes off the bench - and even that will be a struggle once Mason is back from injury and Bentaleb gets more match fitness.
Getting really excited about this game, I thinks it'd gonna be totally different from the weekend and is massive for us. Gotta stay with the front runners. I'd play Dembele any day of the week if he's fit but it's likely he won't start. Right, off to the Bell then... COYS!!!!!!!!!
The thing about Tom is that his build and height will always count massively against him. In many ways, he'd be more effective in a slower, less physical league like Italy or Portugal. The PL can be unforgiving for players like him. As I've mentioned previously, he really needs to be playing alongside a world class DM who will protect him and bulldoze a clear space for him to operate in throughout the game. That isn't a criticism of Dier; he has been a revelation but he certainly isn't experienced enough to fill that role yet, he's a young lad playing his first season in a new role and has generally shone there. Besides for this, Poch's philosophy of how a DM should operate is quite different from other notables we've had in recent years such as Sandro and Parker so I don't know if Dier will ever be that player in this system. Modric truly flourished from 'excellent' to 'world class' when playing alongside a player with Parker's experience, and I think Carroll would flourish too (although he'll never be in the same league as Modric). The general consensus on here is that playing him and Eriksen together leaves us too flimsy through the middle, which is why I'd like a front 3 of Lamela, Alli and Son tonight if Tommy starts. Now THIS is a proper discussion
