please log in to view this image Tuesday 8th January 8pm Carabao Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg Wembley Stadium Job done in one cup and now we're onto the other domestic one. Our opponents also progressed this weekend and will be looking to get a run of form going. The league match at Wembley went particularly badly for them, so they'll be looking for revenge for that, too. It's not been long since we've played them, so I'll keep this one short and sweet. Here are the goals from our match in November, including the rather special one from Son: Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Rose; Winks, Sissoko, Eriksen, Alli; Kane, Son. Subs: Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Foyth, Davies, Skipp, Moura, Llorente. League form: WWWWLW. Chelsea: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley; Willian, Morata, Hazard. Subs: Caballero, Zappacosta, Christensen, Ampadu, Emerson, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek. League form: WWLWWD. Referee: Kevin Friend. TV: Sky Sports. Should we change anything for this one from our league game against them? Did anyone do enough against Tranmere to earn a place in the starting lineup or on the bench? Have Chelsea changed anything in the last couple of months that we need to watch out for?
Very big statement of season intent this one IMHO. Spurs have played all PL sides to get this far, and to reach the final will mean eventually having played 3-4 games against teams in the current PL top 5. Apart from Gazza in goal, I would like : 1. Llorente and Son to lead the attack in the starting XI (Kane on bench) . 2. CM to be heavyweight (DM in particular) , as even a Chelsky Nth team has sufficient senior players to overrun most of our available MF line-ups.
I wanna get Llorente going on the score sheet now. Spurs are competing on all fronts this season, and IMHO we have been tempting fate far too long regarding Kane getting a season-ending injury. This month is the only chance we have to do so before the CL kicks off again.
I think we need Kane on the pitch rather than hope Llorente comes good. Time to bring the big guns back. Eriksen, Sissoko, Kane and so on. We need a full strength team playing. I know it's only the League Cup, but it's Chelsea for Christ's sake!
From today's Presser... Lucas is out following that knock at Tranmere but Eric "You're a pussy" Lamela is back from illness.
<BBC> Tickets for Tottenham's Carabao Cup semi-final, first leg against Chelsea have now sold out so that'll mean a crowd of 51,000 or so with just level five at Wembley being closed for the game. </BBC> Deirdre will be upset over on the PL board when he learns of this.
Another 'fabulous' article on anti-semitism, this time from Sky............ https://www.skysports.com/football/...-sarri-calls-for-end-to-anti-semitic-chanting Just a small point, why are the exact details of chants by Chelsea, West Ham and increasingly, Arsenal fans, never addressed? Strange innit?
Thankfully Sky Sports have disabled comments on their site Mainly as they tended to justify a referendum for letting the dinosaurs run the planet again...
Just spent £41.90 on a train ticket from Ashford to Wembley. Decided there is no way that I'm going to drive to that fekking place again. Train is nice and empty, not surprising at that price. At least I can have a beer as I'm not driving. Good pubs around Wembley anyone?
The torch is the main Spurs one. Come out of the side entrance at Wembley Park station and do a left, about a three minute walk. I don’t drink in Wembley these days though unless it’s just a couple cans in the warmer months. Gets too crowded and can take a while to get served. Plus beers are like £5 or £5.50 I think. I either drink in my local in Edmonton before making a move or meet a couple of mates in Farringdon. There’s a spoons there called sir John oldcastle. Again, short walk from station and then just jump on the met line to Wembley Park.
