please log in to view this image Saturday 6th October 3pm Premier League Wembley Stadium Our Champions League campaign is already looking precarious, so it's important that we do well on other fronts. Let's hope that the visit to Wembley from another foreign side goes a little better for us. Our depleted squad will have been drained by last night's constant hard work. Will Pochettino make many changes and does he even have that option at the moment? Cardiff returned to the top-flight this season after a five year gap. They finished runner-up in the Championship last season, having spent the whole campaign in the top 4. It was a record breaking achievement for Neil Warnock, as he sealed his 8th promotion in English football. His dour, practical style of football might not win over many neutrals, but it's hard to argue with his results. Consistent team selection, a well drilled defence and a lot of graft will often get you on the right path. The Bluebirds have found it tough going since their return, as is often Warnock's way in this division. Coming up against equally well drilled and hard working sides with added quality can undo his methods. Two goalless draws account for their only points so far, having lost the other five matches. Their shared spoils were with fellow relegation zone occupiers Huddersfield and Newcastle. Things will have to pick up soon or they may look for a new manager, so the pressure could be on. There was no corresponding fixture last year, of course. Our last meetings were in the 2013/14 season. Both matches finished 1-0 to us, as we dawdled into sixth place, while they finished bottom and went down. The unlikely goalscorers were Soldado and Paulinho, with the Brazilian nicking the points in Wales late on. It was a finish that was worthy of a win, too: This is a slightly strange game in regards to ticketing, as it's limited capacity at Wembley. That would normally mean closing the top tier, but tickets have already been sold for it. It'll be a bit of an oddity to see a few people dotted about up there, while most of it's empty. Aurier, Alli, Vertonghen, Dembele and Amos are all out injured until after the international break, at least. Peltier and Maindez-Laing are out for the visitors. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Gazzaniga; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Dier, Dembele, Rose; Moura, Son; Kane. Subs: Whiteman, Davies, Wanyama, Sissoko, Winks, Lamela, Llorente. League form: WWLLWW. Cardiff: Etheridge; Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Cunningham; Camarasa, Arter, Ralls, Murphy; Paterson; Zohore. Subs: Murphy, Bennett, Richards, Reid, Harris, Ward, Madine. League form: DDLLLL. Referee: Mike Dean. TV: Not televised. We've made a number of tactical changes in recent games, so which would you adopt for this one? Who needs a rest and who should replace them from our damaged squad? Is there anything new that you'd like to see tried out or any fringe players you'd like to see promoted?
Played for both Steven Caulker Chris Gunter Wayne Routledge Mike England Terry Yorath (played for Spurs, managed Cardiff)
Gazza Tripps, Dave, Toby, Rose Dier, Winks Lucas, Lamela, Son Kane Here’s hoping my favourite player, Harry Winks, can bring that second 45 minutes against Barca into this game. I know Hugo will start but it really should be Gazza.
And I hope Wanyama gets another start, he was such a force for us before his injury and we need him back to that level asap. He's not far off IMO.
Long way to go, mate. Had roughly 4 good performances in about 50 matches for us. More than happy to be proven wrong on him but I just can’t see it. He hasn’t been able to replicate his form from the 16/17 season. Brian said there’s speculation he may have an injury similar to Ledley, if that’s the case we may never see him back at full capacity. Would be a damn shame as he was so impressive in that debut season.
Was that the 1st half goal where the WHL faithful then sung the Soldado song as he left the pitch at HT ??
Any thoughts? A number of Tottenham players have expressed concerns Mauricio Pochettino's energy-sapping training sessions are causing injuries to key players.
The Injuries suggest that there won't be many changes - but I think there maybe more than expected with the team looking something like this Lloris Walker-Peters, Toby, Dier, Rose Wanyama, Winks Sissoko, Lamela, Moura Kane
Having watched the Cardiff match last weekend and us against Barca in midweek, I expect us to win by at least 5 goals, so sorry lads, it will probably end 0-0. I'm not bottom of the all teams prediction league for no reason at all.
