    Wednesday 27th October 7.45pm
    Carabao Cup Round of 16
    Turf Moor

Another London Derby, of sorts and another poor performance and result.
Resting the whole team for the trip to the Netherlands didn't seem to help, either.
The drop-off in the second half was pretty clear and that shouldn't happen after such a break.
Next up is another cup game, this time against a struggling Burnley side.
Can Espirito Santo get something out of this team or will the pressure on him increase before the weekend?

We're yet to face Sean Dyche's side in the league, which may explain why they haven't won a game yet.
Their cup form is better, obviously, where they managed to overcome two teams to get here.
The first was a goalless draw with Newcastle at St James', which the Clarets won on penalties.
The second was a comfortable win over League Two Rochdale, who are currently in 15th place.
Here are the highlights of those matches:

It seems likely that Doherty and Sessegnon will still be out for this one.
Dale Stephens is the only absentee for the hosts. Neither side has any suspensions.

Lineups for each side's last league game:

Spurs: Lloris; Royal, Romero, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Moura, Ndombele, Son; Kane.
Subs: Gollini, Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez, Davies, Lo Celso, Alli, Bergwijn, Gil.
    League form: LLLWWL.

Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Collins, Tarkowski, Taylor; Cork, Westwood; McNeil, Brownhill, Cornet; Wood.
Subs: Hennessey, Bardsley, Long, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Lennon, Vydra, Barnes, Rodriguez.
    League form: LLDDLD.

Ref: Peter Bankes. No VAR for this one. Mike Dean will be acting like a twat as the 4th official, though.

    TV: Not televised.

How would you like to line up for this one?
Would you stick with much of the same lineup from the West Ham game, tinker a little or change it completely?
Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Burnley to go with?

Nuno is now in full "save my job" mode so it'll be a reserve side to keep the first team fresh for united...so we are going out.

Tbh after Thursday's farce and not creating a single chance in the second half v West Ham I am amazed he is still in post.

    Hoof-ball Dyche vs B-Tech Jose.

What a game this is gonna be. The neutral's are gonna love it!

My team’s a basket case too, but at least they’re not boring.
This is what counts as oneupmanship these days, btw.
Utd don’t have a game this midweek.

It's fair oneupmanship, too. Many of us would consider "not boring" an immense upgrade at the moment.

Probably be a 'B' team again (although honestly I don't think we should start at 'A'....)
However, there must be an incentive to send the motley crew from Sunday out again to redeem themselves. We'll probably lose on Sunday anyway and resting them didn't seem to help <doh>

Realistically, if we did send out a rotated side, somebody needs to show up and say they deserve a spot

...of course, as we'll likely be shackling ourselves with Tanganga and Davies as FBs to restrict our width, we'll just be trying to make sausage through the middle all game long again

Gives us a reasonable steer as to how the youth players will be involved tomorrow.

Apparently Dele isn’t even in the squad for tomorrow and from the sounds of it so far it doesn’t seem injury related.

That decision to not let him go last January either on loan or permanently is really paying off, his value’s probably dropped by a further £15m since and it wouldn’t have been that high then.

I’ve joked that he’s gonna go full circle and end up being sold for the £5m we paid MK… Starting to think that may even be a reality soon with the way his career has fallen off a cliff.

Though I wonder if there is the small possibility we could scam Newcastle…? They did want him back when we signed him.

Considering Nuno has called this game a ‘final’ this is damning that he’s not included Dele Alli at all.

Newcastle move would probably suit everyone, he’s still high profile and a big name signing even if he’s been gash for 4 years. Is he the sort of player you want when you’re in a relegation battle though?

Right now he’s not seemingly the sort of player for any battle I’d say.

But in Toon’s case they’d potentially see him as a marquee signing… pure guesswork though really. Wouldn’t be surprised if maybe one or two sides in Serie A fancied a punt.

£30million for Dele and £20million for Winks would be good business for Newcastle <laugh>

Hopefully this means we get Lo Celso in his natural position for once

Also jumping on the hopefully bandwagon, Lo Celso also does this strange thing where a creative player gets the ball through to the forwards...

Dan Kilpatrick says Winks has also been omitted from the squad tonight.

If only Nuno omitted himself, we’d have a hattrick of great news.

Tbh Winks is embarrassing himself by saying he has to leave to get first team football cos he don't understand why he doesn’t get it at Spurs...

Yeah I think he’s due a start. I’m hoping that Gil does too and we see a front four of Kane, Son, Lo Celso and Gil. This pedestal that Nuno has put Lucas on is doing my head in whilst Fatty was back to his usual self on Sunday, I’m not a big of fan of Lo Celso either but he at least deserves a chance in a stronger XI to prove himself.

To be fair there’s a reason footballers generally carry the label of being thick…
