Trust in the : 1. current fully fit squad to get thru this tie without risking premature return of certain players ?? 2. manager to utilise/control that squad to get the job done ?? 1 - quite a bit. 2 - not so much. So god knows what the team sheet will be.
This one is not a big draw for a TV audience. "And who will miss the game expecting 8pm?" I almost did (what do you think of how Spurs played today ) ??
It makes some sense for Holland, due to the time difference. The same applies for Lyon in Bucharest and Rangers in Istanbul. Man Utd's game in Spain being at the same time? Not so much.
I assume that the teams at 5:45 this week will be 8pm next week. Just happens that all the British teams are away from home first and can’t really have a 5:45 in the uk hence all 3 British teams playing at the same time.
The rule should be that KO is 8pm local time, with the exception being the final game in the group stage.
That would still need a few exceptions, in the case of the Qarabags of the world as matches would kick off at 4pm UK time On the plus side, the Russian top flight is almost entirely composed of teams from places three hours ahead of GMT, so no away trips to Vladivostok for anybody
The 3 inevitables...Death, Taxes and... Troy Parrott scoring the winner against us! As for the setup, I'm still backing CK's selection, although I would love to see Archie starting to appear in MF. And I really hope that Ange doesn't forget the impact that those 3 Academy lads had in getting us to the ko phase.
Unfortunately the relatively fit squad we now have will mean the likelihood of any of them getting on is unlikely, but at least Werner can't come on ahead of Moore! I am all for CKs team too but I think Romero will start and VDV will be kept back I also expect Johnson on the right, but having Odobert, Tel and Moore as options for later in the game is a cause for optimism.
Just checked if Khabarovsk had a team, as they are in that region (well 500 miles from Vladivostok and about the same size, but that's not a long way in that part of the world) and indeed KSKA Khabarovsk play in the Russian second tier, and have in the past been in the first tier, meaning they were eligible to qualify for UEFA competitions (if Russian teams are allowed). They are GMT+10.
Oh good a Slovenian referee, this one is young 34 and this is 7th European club match, likes a yellow card by the look of it, has shown 26 in his first 6 along with a couple of reds which may or may not have been for 2 yellows. lets hope he doesn't give a dubious penalty in the first minute!
